:::KEIRA:::

"Thanks for shopping here at Walgreen's. I hope the rest of your night is wonderful, ma'am."

The older white lady with greasy, gray hair said to me as she gently pushed the Walgreen's bag over to me. I smile at her and wave her off as I walk away through the double doors and out into the parking lot where Bruce's car was parked.

He wasn't sitting in the front seat anymore which kind of confused me. I looked further inside to find him sitting in the middle of the backseat with Yasmin in his arms. Seeing this had hyped me up a bit and made me start to walk a little faster in fear that something may have gone wrong while I'd been in the store trying to Google shit and find a solution and home remedies to help Yasmin get rid of her fever.

I open the car door and get inside, turning around to see Bruce cradling one year old Yasmin like an arm baby. She wasn't crying or anything. They were just staring at each other. And just seeing them bonding made me strike a smile and cover it up a bit to keep my excitement down. I knew that Bruce was starting to realize that Yasmin is most definitely his. And just seeing this...I couldn't help but hope that things could turn around for us.

"Thanks, Bruce, for everything." I say to him, breaking his stare at his daughter. He looked up at me and then smiled, looking back down at Yasmin.

"It's really no problem. She's my daughter, too." He said.

"Is it alright if daddy puts you back in the cradle? Huh, baby girl?" He cooed at her, making me giggle a bit at how gentle he was with her. I watched as he laid her down into her car seat and shook his head. "You're so warm, baby girl. We're gonna have to do all we can to break that."

"You're so good with her, Bruce." I say as I watch him strap her in.

"Yea...Tereny and I have a baby together, too. It's natural, I guess." Hearing his wife's name for the first time kind of struck a nerve instantly, causing for me to break my smile. I was jealous.

"Oh, you two have a baby together, too?" I asked.

"Yea." He responded.

"First time I've ever heard about you having a baby with her. That just flew by me." I admit, feeling some type of way that Chris had failed to mention that part to me. From what I heard, the baby wasn't Bruce's. But I knew that Chris wasn't going to tell his best friend's business. It just would've been nice to know. "Chris never mentioned that."

"Could've been because it was nothing to tell." He said before getting out of the car. I watched as he got back in on the driver's side and pulled his seat belt on. I did the same. "You get everything you needed?" He asked me, looking at the Walgreen's bag.

"Yea. I took her by the doctor earlier today and they prescribed something for her. I just wanted to get some extra necessities that I'd probably need in case. That's why it took so long." I say, looking inside of the bag and then tying the bag and looking straight ahead.

"I think I should call my wife and let her know that I'm gonna stick around and help you out with her. It's the least I can do. That way, we can talk about what we need to do and all that." That surprised the hell out of me to hear him say. I assumed that he was going to drop us back off and go back home to his wife. And I guess my look explained it all because he sucked his teeth and leaned his head back. "You think I'm just going to drop you back off home and leave you to take care of Yasmin alone?"

"I mean..."

"What type of lame do you take me for, Keira? Really...You of all people should know me better than that to know I'm not a deadbeat." He said to me with a bit of attitude.
