:::BRUCE:::

I'd dropped Britney off to Tereny at her parents' house and rushed home as quick as I could to get things prepped for tonight. I'd made sure to tell her to make sure Britney was asleep before she came back home, letting her think that my reasons were because I was horny and all. Even though I was real horny for Tereny's body, I was honestly putting my all into this surprise that I had for her.

I had candles lit, there were shrimps sauteed and ready to be cooked along with some sausages and bell peppers chopped up. I'd even put together her favorite; Chicken Alfredo. The sauteed shrimps with the sausages and chopped bell peppers were the toppings for the Alfredo if she wanted them. I damn sure did. A nigga was craving raw bell peppers like crazy and I didn't even like bell peppers.

Sure enough, I bought the fake white and pink rose petals and laid them out onto the coffee table and gently placed the ClearBlue pregnancy test in the middle of the bed of fake roses, rubbing my hands together and smiling from ear to ear. She'd find this funny, but I ain't laughing. I wanted to know if I had me a little son on the way. I'm sure this one is a boy. I was just tired of wondering when it's clearly obvious she's pregnant. I just need to prove it to her since she's in so much of disbelief that she's carrying a Golden Child.

Little did Tereny know, every Golden Child made themselves noticed. Hell, we all wanted to be acknowledged. Sooner or later, Tereny's going to get with the program.

In the meantime, while I was waiting for the clock to strike seven so that I could get in this kitchen and cook the sauteed shrimp, I was about to hop on this Call of Duty real quick and kill some mothafuckas.

While I sat my chair in front of the TV, about to cut the Xbox One on, my phone started vibrating in my balling shorts pocket. I took the phone out, hoping it was Tereny calling to let me know that she was on her way home because I was ready for her to pee on that stick to prove to her that she's pregnant. But it was Chris instead.

Smiling as I accepted his call, I sat down into the chair.

"What up, bruh?" I answered.

"Shit, bro..." Chris sounded a little upset and although I was in a good mood and didn't want to ruin it when Chris bring all sad and shit, but I wouldn't be a real friend if I didn't at least ask her what was up.

"Your voice don't sound too promising. What's up, man? Talk to me." I insist as I sit back in my game chair and get comfortable, sighing as I flip the game controller off.

"Man, it's Keira." She responded.

"What about her?"

"Her dad, man. He just died, bro." Hearing that, my heart jumped and then had automatically stopped. I sat up with my hand on my chest, hearing the Xbox controller fall to the floor.

I wasn't sure if I was hearing her right, but I knew that she didn't just say that Keira's father had died. Not Mr. De Grassi. What the fuck was this world coming to? He was always full of life and never told you anything wrong, regardless of you wanting to hear it or not. He was a man of God and wasn't afraid to show it off. I swear the good ones die young. Damn.

"How so?" I ask as I think about the last time I'd shared a word with Mr. De Grassi. It was a long ass time ago when I took Keira to our Homecoming dance back in school a couple of years back. The last thing Mr. De Grassi told me was 'If Keira says no, then the answer is NO'.

"Damn, bruh. That's tough." I say, readjusting my seating. "How she taking it?" I asked, concerned about Keira. It felt weird being worried about her. I know it's never a good thing losing a parent.
