:::TERENY:::

"Mrs. Golden..."

I heard an unfamiliar voice call out to me as my eyes opened to a bright light. Fuck! Did I fall to my death?! Oh, Lord! I thought to myself as I tried my hardest to get my eyes open fast enough to see exactly where I was. When they had finally opened wide enough, I saw Bruce standing over me and instantly had gotten pissed off. When I looked on the other side of the room, I saw some white lady standing there, shining a bright light in my eyes.

"Get that bright ass light out of my face." I say to her.

"Oh..." She smiled and clicked the light off. "She's awake, Mr. Golden." She looked at him and smiled as if they had some inside joke going on or something. I didn't find this shit funny at all.

"Did I pass out?" I ask her.

"Yes, ma'am, you did." She pulled up a clipboard and examined.

"Well is that normal for me to be passing out? I did it a lot during my last pregnancy and I'd appreciate it if y'all did something to pinpoint it so that I can stop falling out." I say with an attitude.

"Well, Mrs. Golden, I can say that your blood pressure isn't the best. And I can also say that this normally happens to a pregnant woman reaching her second trimester when she's stressed out. And what I'm going to need for you to do is let go of whatever it is that's stressing you out bad enough to where you fall out. It's not healthy for you and it's not healthy for your baby." The lady walked over to the foot of the hospital bed and I looked over at Bruce who shook his head away from me and looked towards the lady.

"We ran some tests on you while you were out and it shows that you do have gestational diabetes. You may have a lot of blackouts during your pregnancy due to this problem. Diabetes complicate your pregnancy, which means that you have to change your diet and eat on an hourly basis to avoid these blackouts." The lady continued as she walked back to where she was standing next to me. "It's important to keep your blood sugar levels in check because poorly controlled diabetes can have serious short and long-term consequences for you and your baby. It's very important that we do all that we can to make sure that you have a healthy pregnancy along the way which means we will have to put you on bedrest for a while." I sat up a bit and hissed from the pain that I was in. Bruce grabbed my hand.

"But I exercise a lot. How could that be an issue?" I asked, afraid of what was happening to me.

"While you're exercising and all of that, it won't change the fact that you're at a high rate for diabetes. At your size, it's normal. At times like this, while pregnant, some women of your size are at a higher risk for diabetes, but can go away with pregnancy. Your husband did tell me that you'd gone through this before with your first child. Is that correct?" She asked me.

"Yes." I answered.

"Okay. More than likely, you had the same issue with your child. But, we really need to keep you off of your feet for a couple of weeks. After that, you can go back to your regular routine. Only thing is, we need you on a diet and we need you to drop your stress levels down. So whatever it is that you're stressing about, we need you to let it go. It's important that your stress levels are down and you eat more vegetables and fruit possible. If you feel that you have to eat, choose a vegetable over sweets unless needed." I sighed and stared through the wall in front of me. "I'm going to print out some important information and refer you to one of our doctors here in the center and you'll be sent home."

"Yep." I say with an attitude.

I watched her as she walked out of the room without shutting the door. When she was gone, I laid my head back down and sighed, wanting to cry. This was going to be a miserable pregnancy and I already knew it. Bruce touched my hand, causing for me to look at him.
