Chapter 9: Goodbye Mavis...

Natsu's pov

My eyes keep their cold rage as I drop his lifeless body. I can feel the dull beating of my heart, my rage taking over as the markings on my body continue to take over, hissing as dark red flames rise off of my skin. The sick metallic stench of blood released as the flames burnt... it's my blood, my blood is burning. I look down at him as the wound starts to pull itself together, sickening cracks of his spine being remade just filing me with disgust for him. "Stand up..." my voice seems to peirce into the silent battle field before his body snaps up onto his feet, an insane smile over his lips as he let's out a twisted laugh. "YOU'VE DONE IT NOW BOY! YOUR GONNA MAKE ME GET SO SERIOUS AREN'T YOU! OVER SOME BLONDE BITCH!" My eyes glossed over with rage widen as he mentions my Lucy. My body just reacts, slamming my fist into his jawline. His body is sent flying back into building after building. Blood dripped from my knuckles as I begin to follow him. My only desire at this point.... to see him die, over and over again until he can't bring himself back. As I near his body I can see his face, the place where his lower jaw used to be is now just a bloody mess. Struggling to regenerate the lost jaw he starts to panic, using his magic to topple a building over on me, I brace for the impact, flames encircling my body as they starts to melt through even the falling brick, the red flames being my living rage. "Did you know dragons are selfish beings, known to kill and destroy anything that steals from it.... you stole her from me. I'll make sure you die here... even if I die with you." My fist shakes as I glare at him, my hand cracking and shaking. I broke it with the sheer force of hitting him, but I don't care. I'll bring him down even if I break my body.

After his jaw is reformed he tries a desperate attempt to attack once again, my body moving on instinct as I rush him. Using all of my reflexes to avoid the blasts of white magic from his hands. "Just stay away you monster!" His voice is panicked and full of fear. I continue to move forward, driving my foot into his stomach felling my leg breaking from the shin to the knee. I continue to attack, grunts of rage and the audible sound of my fists meeting his head the only sounds in the area. Before he can heal I keep pounding away at his body, not giving him a chance to heal before setting fire to my body as well as his, both of us starting to burn up quick. His screams sounding throughout the city before he just stops and lays there, dead and burned. My skin black and charred from the flames. With my rage residing the red flames stopping and being replaced with a steady flow of blood from all around my body. I pant out hot steamy breaths as I limp to find lucy, my body having to shift it's weight from one foot to the other. As I near the her body I see a figure petting her head gently. I start to rush over. The girl looks alot like lucy and Mavis is by her side.... what the hell is going on. Before I can speak I hear Mavis' voice. "Natsu... you've grown so much. Don't worry about lucy, she just needs a mother's soft touch for now." As she speaks she smiles to the woman beside her, the wound on her stomach sealing shut with a beautiful golden light rising from her body. The woman's soft voice coming out as a soothing lullaby. "Sleep Natsu, you've earned it... to think you'd surpass the brother who created this power, your really amazing Natsu... I wish I could have been around longer." She smiles warmly as I feel my legs give out from under me, instead of hitting the hard ground I feel soft warm skin against my cheek. I roll over to my back as I look up at Mavis. "I love you Natsu, thank you for letting me watch you grow up as a member of my guild." Her eyes had soft tears in them, all I could do is fall asleep despite the efforts to speak. The world around me faded to black with a soft voice singing me along.

2 weeks later

My eyes slowly opened as I stare up at a ceiling. My mind not being quick enough to take it in I just lay there for a moment. My voice coming out in cracks as tears pour down my cheek. "Mavis.... lucy... please don't leave me either of you." My cries are shut up by an arm around my waist, the warm contact making me sit up fast. "Natsu stop it, your comfy." She's here... my Lucy is here. All I can mutter through the tears are. "S-sorry..." I hold her close to myself. I wipe my eyes fast as I hear a familiar voice from the end of the bed. "Natsu~ protect her, she's your light isn't she?" When I look down Mavis smiles back at me before slowly fading away, her eyes still held her happy light. "I won't be back for a while Natsu, please watch over our family." She waves sadly as she starts to cry in contrast with her smile. "I don't wanna go yet but... I've used up to much magic, I'll come back as soon as I can I promise." I smile as i reach over and pet her head lovingly. "Mavis.... we'll be waiting for you so don't be late." She nods as she cries fading away completely. Once she's gone a pain in my chest is sent through my body. "Damn... I miss her already." She was like a big sister or even a mother to me at time, I love her like my own family.

Sending my thoughts away is a sound from behind the doors. A loud crash and some yelling can be heard but the voices aren't recognizable. " I move out of the bed slowly, my entire body wrapped in white bandages. I grunt as I pull on my shirt, pain shooting through my body. As I walk out of the room it goes dead silent in the guild hall. "Natsu..." I look up at lisanna as she slams into me hard, hug tackling me hard. My sore body gives under her weight and we fall back. "Your awake... it's been so long, we thought you'd never wake up. What happened? Where's the guy you beat up? What's gonna happen?" I smile and disregard all of her questions, holding her close I mumble. "I-im... home...." All of a sudden the infirmary doors bang open. "Oui.... who's touching my dragon?" Lucy's asks with a scowl before wrapping her arms around me and pulling me away. "Mine..." She mumbles causing me to blush. Everyone erupts into laughs and cheering as the begin drinking again. Erza and the master make their way towards us, their warm smiles suddenly making me uneasy as they both grab my arms and squeeze making me grunt in pain. "If you ever do anything this stupid again I'll gut you myself Natsu." Erza's voice sending chills down my spin before she hugs me and pull my face into her chest. "We need you around her idiot." The master just grunts and nods before adding. "And well... since you brought down the enemy magnolia not only payed for damages to the guild but also gave you a huge reward." He sighs and points to a bag full of gifts and money, lucy purrs as she walks over and starts to go through the bag. "Did I get something? I worked hard to, maybe a life time amount of rent?" She giggles as she shuffled through the bag, erza walking over to help search through the bag. Suddenly she stops and puts on a super cute face and holds up a cake box. "N-natsu... can I? Please?" She blushes as I laugh out my words. "Whatever just don't make that face again, it creeps me out. Your not supposed to be cute." She only points and mumbles as she sits down to eat. "But I am cute... just ask jeallal..." I laugh more until lucy walks over and gently kisses my lips, a sudden blush taking my cheeks by storm. "W-w-what was that for...." She smiles and presses her finger to my lips as she whispers. "Thank you Natsu..." I shake my head and smiles back at her. "Shut up.... I should be thanking you for saving me. It would've been as real pain to die before I could kick that guys ass..." She giggles and pushes me, making me whimper from a jolt of pain. "Yea yea, but because of you I got to see her." Her eyes start to fill with tears despite her smile, I decided not to question any further. I just smile and rush over to pull things from the bag, handing out the stuff I think people would like that I don't need, most of them drunk as they thank me for it. Only keeping a camera, dragon doll, all of the food they gave, and a new outfit, a long over coat with a flame decal on the the arms and midsection along with a red shirt and pair of pants.

I party with everyone until it gets late, heading home with lucy after we finish. Most of the way home I stay silent, just thinking over the fight and about Mavis. "Geez... now I'm upset again." I growl as sigh. Lucy look over confused but smiles and stands on her toes, kissing my lips again. "How bout now? I can try again if you'd like?" I blush and gently grabs her hand to hold. "No... I want way more when we get home." I smile a goofy grin the entire way as she blushes. When we get home we both get ready for bed, me having to remove the bandages and applying more in certain spots before getting in bed. As I lay there thinking she rushes in and jumps on my chest, hugging me tight before whispering. "Natsu... did you see my mom too? She talked about you a lot. She told me that you'd always protect me, and that I need to be your light..." I lay back and look out the window. "Yea I saw her, she was beautiful just like I'd expect. She's the one that saved you... I don't know what happened after that." I say softly as she kissed me hard. Pulling away slowly as she whispers. "Natsu dragneel... when am I gonna be a dragneel too? I've been waiting for a while..." She says jokingly just to make me blush, loving to tease me. I don't get her joke and shrugs as I mumble. "Well... whenever you want. I wanna be together forever, I want you to be my mate always." I say seriously, no joking or sarcasm I'm my voice. "So... marry me lucy...."

(Well that's that XD, sorry everyone who's been keeping up with the story, I've been going through some more rough patches, including depression and self harm, but that's all behind me so expect more to be published.
