Chapter 4
~Emergency Evacuation~
I went straight to Geometry, basically running down the hallways. Note in hand, I was ready to get out of this day prison. Besides, my sister Poppy was hurt. She had gotten burned by the sun. This was not good, I had to get home. On the bright side both twins didn't get hurt, at least Chastity was alright. I am the only one who can help, because being an unvampire means I am a vampire healer. When I inject blood into Poppy she will become well again, but if I wait too long, she will die. It also means only humans I bite turn into vampires. So I had to be careful who I bit, but at this point, I really just had to get home.
I ran into Geometry class and handed Mr. Dunseith the note. I ran in saying, "I have family life or death matters, I am sorry that I can't stay long, but I must go, my sister is about to die." He looked at me. I don't think he bought it. He never did. I always missed his class, not no mention that I always showed up for tests and got A's. It drove him insane. It also made the rest of the class think I had some kind of magical power, which I did. "Please, I really have to leave school," I said again with more urgency this time. He looked at me. "You don't have a sister, or at least I didn't know you had a sister. Well if it is as important as that, you are excused, but you have to get an A on the next test." I said a quick "thank you" and quickly ran back out the door.
I ran back to my locker and, thank God, Kevin had gone back to class. I opened my locker and hit the back twice. Jason was still in my coffin probably fast asleep. I walked in shutting my locker door behind me. I tapped the coffin lid, and nothing happened. I then slowly opened the lid to see my little brother fast asleep. I tapped his head and his eyes opened. "You're back!" He said. "I am so glad you noticed," I said as I handed him my cape and helped him out. We both went to the secret door and then got out of my locker. I quickly closed the door to the secret room and then the door of my locker. As soon as he had my cape covering him, we both ran for the door as fast as we could together. We ran down three streets and got stopped by one stop light before we finally made it home, thankfully my brother was unharmed, the cape had protected him, and he didn't have to use his power of the shadow to protect him from the sun, again.
As soon as I got home I was lead upstairs to Poppy's room, the window shades were now closed and Poppy was lying in agony. I quickly checked the seriousness of the burn. It was completely red, and there might have been a blister or two. I looked into Poppy's eyes which were almost completely covered by her long purple hair, her skin almost halfway to dust. They had tears of pain wallowing in them. I gave her a nod and she nodded back. I was handed a bottle of red blood. It had a strong sent to it and my blood level started to rise, it was obviously from a very depressed human girl whom had been lying so much it caused her a deep depression, I could smell it. My blood felt like a hot ocean, and I quickly bit my sister right on the neck, injecting my blood right into her blood stream. Within minutes, the burn started to disappear. Like magic, within three or four minutes everyone was acting like nothing ever happened, even Poppy was up and walking around. I was relieved and went straight into my room and got into my coffin and slept.
