I show up at Isaac's and honk the horn so Sabrina knows I'm here. Lily jumps out and runs to her house, while I sprint to Isaac's house. I sling the door open to see Isaac's dad over him, fist raised to hit him in the back of the neck. I tackle his dad and punch him once. He is down for now, so I pick up Isaac as carefully, but as quickly as possible. Running out the door, I hear his mom scream. Oh well, the bitch deserves the agony. She let her kids get beat every other weekend. I slow down as I get to Sabrina's door. Knocking with my more available hand, I wait for someone to answer. I am waiting less than a minute when Sabrina throws the door open. She starts to cry when she sees Isaac's unconscious body over my shoulder. I walk inside and lay Isaac in the couch.
"This is the last time this is ever going to happen. The cops are getting called this time." I tell Sabrina. She nods and pulls out her phone.
"I would like to report parental abuse." She says to the operator. She gives the address of Isaac's house, and I guess they tell her to stay on the line.
"Let's go outside." Lily says. We all walk outside after Sabrina kisses Isaac's forehead. As we wait outside I start hearing sirens. I'm glad to know that this will be the last time. A police car shows up first, then an ambulance. Sabrina drops the phone and walks up to the first officer.
"Were you the one who called us?" The officer asks. She nods. "Can you tell us what happened and how you are connected with the victim?"
"I'm his girlfriend. I also live next door. We were watching a movie upstairs when we heard yelling downstairs. He had me check the next room for his sisters, but they weren't there. So we went downstairs and they were huddled in the corner surrounded by glass. Isaac sent me upstairs with them, and had me take them through his bedroom window to my house. Zeke should know what happened from there." She tells the cops. She points at me when they ask who Zeke is. The younger looking officer walks up to me and asks me what happened.
"I was with Lily," I point to Lily, "when I got a call from Sabrina. She told me that Isaac's parents were drunk and that he asked for me. I showed up around five minutes later, and ran to Isaac's house. I opened the door to see his dad about to punch him in the back of the head. He was already uncocious. I tackled his dad and hit him once. Then I carried Isaac to Sabrina's, and told her to call the cops. I want this to be the last time this happens."
I tell the cop. He nods.
"Could you take our paramedics to the victim?" He asks. I nod and walk into Sabrina's house. The paramedics follow me in. They take one look at Isaac and nod at the cops. "There is definetly enough evidence to say his parents are guilty. We will have to hold a trial, but we will get pictures of Isaac's bruises, and it will be a quick case." The cop assures me. I hear Sabrina sigh in relief. I walk over and hug her. She hugs me back with tears in her eyes.
"Is he going to be ok?" She asks me in a whisper. I look down at her, and see the frail, broken girl she hides behind her bad girl facade. I know its not a complete mask, but if she is hurt one more time it probably will be.
"He'll be fine. Just sore Brina." I tell her. She nods into my chest.
"Fuck." Isaac groans. Sabrina turns, and runs towards him. "Where are Bekah and Sarah?" He asks, lightly kissing Sabrina when she sits beside him.
"They are asleep in my room." She tells him.
"Did those bastards cause them any harm?" He asks.
"No I checked. They are completely fine. Just scared and worried about you." She says. "How often does this happen?"
"Every other weekend." I say sadly.
"It won't be happening again." She says to Isaac soothingly. He nods before looking confused.
"Did you call the cops?" He asks wearily.
"We had to Isaac. I'm sorry I haven't been there the last two years. I shouldn't have let that slut break our friendship." I tell him. He nods and smiles. "Your 18 now so you can technically live on your own, and my mom already told you she would adopt the girls." I tell him.
"I'm gonna live with you guys too. Unless you don't mind me living here." He directs the second part towards Sabrina.
"Of course I don't mind. We can move all your stuff over next weekend." She says. I'm glad she is happy again.
"Sir. Do you mind giving us your account of the story?" An officer asks Isaac.
"Come on Brina. Let's go check on the girls." I tell her. She nods and walks up stairs. As we get to her bedroom door I stop her. "I don't want you hearing what his parents did. I know you would try to kill them if you did." I say. She nods sheepishly. She looks down with a sad smile.
"Is it that bad? What they do to him?" She asks. I nod and she slides down the wall with her head in her hands. "Why didn't you tell me before?" She whispers. "Why did you ever let it continue? This was obviously happening two years ago. Why didn't you stop it then?" She asks quietly. I sit beside her and pull her into my side. I feel her tears start to soak my shirt. I feel tears prick the back of my eyes.
"He wouldn't let me call the cops. He always said he could deal with it. Now that he has you, he has something to live for. Other than his sisters. That's the only reason he has lasted this long. I'm sorry I didn't tell you, but he probably wouldn't have wanted me to tell you." I say quietly. She nods, and pulls away.
"Thank you for helping him. Even though you hated him so much two years ago." She whispers. I smile sadly at her.
"I shouldn't have let Kadence get between us. It was my fault." I tell her. Suddenly she is grinning.
"Do you want to help me with something?" She asks. I nod hesitantly. "He has a daughter that Kadence won't let him meet and I want him to meet his baby girl. I want to meet the little girl I will call my own. I want you to meet the little girl you will be able to call your niece. And Lily, her aunt. Please help us." She says. I grin. This is the best news yet.
"Of course I'll help you little sister. She obviously means a lot to you already. What's her name?" I ask.
"Laken."
