HE'S THE ONE
chapter: nine years later

"Mom!" was the first thing I woke up to from my afternoon nap, because Quentin was fighting with his younger sister once again.

He was now 13 years old and sometimes I couldn't really take it, they always fight.

"Savannah took my laptop!" He yelled.

I heard another voice, a bit lighter and softer than Quentin's low voice. "Mommy, I didn't!"

I continued to listen to them bicker, quite tired to even think and try to stop their fight. After a few minutes, - and hearing their yelling get louder - I rubbed my face and got up, thinking of a plan to break up the fight.

"Savannah, you know what. You are a b-" I cut him off by coughing.

"Who told you, you could say those words?" I say, walking over to a crying Savannah. I hugged her tight and her crying slowed.

"I-I didn't know where it came from." Quentin said.

"Savannah, honey. Why do you need his laptop?" I ask. She pulled away and wiped her tears.

"My butterfly report." Savannah said and immediately Quentin's face fell quilty.

"I'm sorry, Sav. I just-I just thought you'd go on my Twitter." Quentin said.

"You have a Twitter?" I ask.

"Um.. yeah." Quentin stuttered. I was shocked. I didn't know Quentin would ever lie to me, especially since he's always honest.

"Is there something else I should know?" I ask, standing up and placing my hands on my hips.

"I-I'm.. I'm gay." He said. My eyes widened. Never in my life did I expect one of my kids to be gay.

I hear the front door open and close. "Honey, I'm home!" I hear Thomas say. "I'm in the living room!" I yell back.

I see Thomas come in and he immediately asks," What's going on?"

"Your son has been keeping secrets from us." I say.

"What kind of secrets?" Thomas asked.

"Quentin, apparently, has a Twitter and he's gay." I say. Thomas stays silent for a few minutes.

"That's great!" Thomas says, smiling.

"Great! How is that great?" I say in shock. How was this supposed to be great?

"He's socializing and he's just being himself. You can't help it if you don't like the other gender." Thomas says.

"When did you get so smart?" I ask, smirking and walking up to Thomas.

"Aren't you the one who called me smarty pants in High School?"

"That was just me being me." I answer.

"I've always been smart." Thomas places his hands on my waist and kisses me.

I heard Savannah say," Eww!!" And Quentin pretended to gag. "I've seen this enough in my lifetime!" He said.

We pulled away laughing. "Get to your rooms! Savannah, do your butterfly report and Quentin, do your math homework."

"No! Math is boring. I don't understand why you need math. I mean it's not going to be important later on." Quentin whined.

Thomas and I laughed. "Everything involves math Quen." Thomas says.

"Not me." Quentin says and runs up the stairs, to his room.

"Mommy, how did you and daddy meet?" Savannah asked.

"Just the old classic. He bumped into me, made me fall, and helped me up." I say, thinking back to when that happened.

"Oh. I wish I'll meet my prince. His name will be Chandler or.. or Jacob. He'll have brown hair and beautiful eyes (see who I'm talking about)." She said, dreamily.

Thomas immediately reacted. "No boyfriends until your 30." He said.

"What? 30? That's like.. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22,23,24,25,26,27,28,29,30.. 30 more years!" She said.

Thomas laughed. "Wrong math. Tell this to your brother. By the way, it's only 24 years."

Savannah groaned and played with her toys. "Do you report!" I say. She rolled her eyes.

"I'm going to take a nap. I don't know if I have time to do the report. I have to sleep, eat, breath, sing, and sleep." She says.

"You already said sleep." Thomas says.

"Yeah and I forgot to add sleep." Savannah said and she ran to the couch. She grabbed a blanket from the ground and slept.

Thomas and I walked to our bedroom. He closed the door and put his hands on my waist.

"Finally some alone time." He said. I smile and kiss him. "I.. love.. you." He says, between kisses.

"I know." I say against his lips. He pulled away and frowned.

"Where's my 'I love you'?" Thomas whined. "Say it!" He said.

I shook my head. "Nope."

"If you don't, no more kisses." I quickly straightened up, making Thomas smirk. He knew I loved his kisses.

"I love you." I say and with that Thomas kissed me. He brought me to the bed and gently pushed me on it.

He got off me and laid down next to me. He wrapped his arm around my waist and I snuggled into him.

I put my head on his chest, hearing his heartbeat.

I hear the door open and Quentin's head popped in. "I'm hungry." He said.

"You're always hungry." Thomas says. "True but don't blame it on me. Blame it on mom. I get my love for food from her." Quentin said.

"It's a gift." I say, as I snuggle closer to Thomas. Thomas chuckles while Quentin laughs.

"Yeah. Good thing I don't gain weight when I eat. That's a good thing. I pretty much eat 24/7." Quentin said.

"You have a good metabolism. I'm pretty sure that's what it's called. I have it too." I say.

"Uh-huh." Quentin said and he walked out the room.

I look up at Thomas and say," I love you, too."

Thinking back at all the memories we've had together.

Snowball fighting, ice skating, studying, kissing, cuddling, etc.

"Too?" He looked down at me and added," I didn't even say I love you, yet."

"You don't have to."

I smiled and kissed him, cupping his cheeks.

When I pulled away, he still had his confused face etched on his face.

"I already know."

And with that, he kissed me.
