Chapter 7 – Emily
The next morning, I awoke to a text message from Dan. “Mornin babe x”, it read. Attached was a picture of Dan—I assumed to have been taken that morning—in bed, shirtless, with hobbit hair.
I smiled at the screen for a few seconds before opening up my own phone’s camera to send him back a morning selfie. I snapped the picture, decided I was happy with it, and attached it to a text to Dan. “Mornin dan. <3 x” I typed, and pushed Send.
Dan doesn’t send me morning selfies very often, but I enjoy them every time he does. I saved the picture he just send me and set it as my lock screen, as I did with all of his past morning selfies.
I got out of bed, stretched, and sifted through my closet to find something to wear. I decided on my black Danosaur T-shirt and a pair of skinny jeans. I smirked to myself as I got dressed, knowing what Dan’s reaction to the outfit would be.
I ran a brush through my hair and went into the kitchen to make myself breakfast. I put a bowl, a spoon, and a glass on the table and went to get the Cheerios out of the cupboard.
After breakfast, I put my dishes into the sink and tiptoed down the hall to Amber’s room. I opened the door slowly and quietly, peeking my head around the door. As usual, she was still fast asleep. I tiptoed around her bed, leaned over her, and yelled, “GOOD MORNING AMBER!”
Amber sat up straight, looking around the room. Once her eyes focused on me, she said, “EMILY! Stop doing that!”
I held my hands up in surrender. “Sorry Amber, but we’ve gotta leave for Dan and Phil’s in—” I checked my phone. “about a half-hour.”
She groaned. “Okay, I’ll be ready in a little bit.”
I walked out of her room and into the bathroom. I brushed my teeth, put my watch on, and shoved a tube of Chapstick into my pocket.
I checked my watch. 10 more minutes.
I walked over to Amber’s room and knocked on the door. “Amber? 10 more minutes!”
I heard a muffled, “I’m going Em, I’m going!” from the other side of the door.
“Okay, well hurry!”
“I am!”
I went back into my room and sat on my bed. I thought about texting a selfie to Dan, but I decided to let him be surprised.
About 5 minutes later, Amber walked into my room. “You ready?”
“Yeah.” I’ve been ready for a half an hour already. I mentally added. “You?”
“Yup.”
“Then let’s go!” I double-checked my pockets to make sure I had everything I needed—cell phone, money, Oyster card, Chapstick—and walked out of my room, Amber right behind me.
20 minutes later, Amber and I were standing in front of Dan and Phil’s door. Amber knocked, and I turned around so my back was to their door. The door opened and I turned back around to face Dan.
Dan noted my T-shirt and wrapped me in a hug. “How are you this morning, my favorite Danosaur?” he asked me.
I blushed. “Oh Dan…I’m fine, thanks. How are you, my favorite YouTuber?”
“HEY!” Phil said, appearing in the doorway.
“Oh, hi Phil.” I said, blushing even more.
“To answer your question, Emily, I’m doing great, thanks.” Dan said.
