Callie's POV
Later that night Sammy still hasn't come downstairs and it's almost dinnertime. Not quite the time I want to test is mood considering meals are what set him off today.
"I really don't think we should call him down for dinner...maybe we should just let him come down in his own time. I mean he's not going to let himself starve" I suggest to Brandon but he just raises his eyebrows at me while crossing his arms.
"I'm sorry and who are the parents in this situation. Callie you're acting like he has all the power right now. I'm sure he will still be mad when he comes down but at the end of the day you're the adult and he is the child. Who will and I repeat will come down and eat the meal that his mother prepared for him" He tells me sounding very sexy I might add in his assertive tone.
"You can go up there and tell him that then because after seeing how heart broken he looked earlier I don't think I can see that in his eyes again without bursting into tears" I explain to him making him chuckle before giving me a quick peck on the lips then trailing on upstairs to Sammy's bedroom.
I go into the kitchen, placing Lyric in her highchair before setting the table and putting all the food on the plates. Not long after that Brandon enters with a smirk on his face and then Sammy follows along looking at the ground until he reaches his chair. He doesn't raise his head at all as he takes his fork beginning to eat his dinner.
"Hi Sammy" I say seeing how he responds.
"Hi..." He quietly answers still not making any movement to the head so I just leave it continuing with dinner having conversation with Brandon and the odd interruption from Lyric squealing or trying to talk which makes Brandon and I both laugh but Sammy huff with anger.
Sammy leaves straight after he finishes his food and I just look at Brandon with a look as soon as Sammy is out of the room. "He'll be fine by dinner babe just give him some space" I mimic him from earlier making him smile and bite his tongue.
"I honestly didn't think he was being this serious. I mean all that happened was he had a sandwich and Lyric didn't" Brandon answers shocked.
"Well maybe he's been noticing things for a while now that we haven't really taken note of and its been getting to him. I was really trying to avoid that...it was my biggest fear when pregnant with her, him getting upset thinking we love him less. I need him to know that's not true!" I say getting emotional with tears in my eyes.
B immediately rises from his seat to pull me into his arms "Hey shh baby its ok. He knows we love him and nothing will change that. He's just going through a jealous phase. They all do it babe I promise. Sammy will never think we don't love him and you need to know that. He knows you love him to the moon and back" He tells me kiss my cheek.
"I really hope so Brandon because the moment that child thinks I don't love him I may as well stop breathing because I've failed at the one job I'm meant to be good at...being a mum..." I whisper letting tears now fall from my eyes.
"Callie I've told you this thousands of times and I will tell you again. You are the best mum and any kid would be lucky to have to as their mum. It just happens that these two were the lucky winners" He assures me making me smile while we wipes away my tears with his thumb, bringing his lips to kiss my nose. I giggle at his comforting before pecking his lips.
"Thankyou. You always know how to fix things." I admit to him making him smile.
"I don't have to do much fixing because you're perfect and you make our life perfect"
"Maaaaa" Lyric screams trying to get our attention.
"Ahhh you missy. Yes we know you're still here" Brandon playfully responds to her lifting her from her highchair, wiping her face with her bib before removing it. "You must never have an attitude you understand me." He tells her tapping her nose before kissing her cheek. "Come on monkey lets go cheer up your brother" He then walks out of the room obviously going up to Sammy's room.
Brandon's POV
I know Sammy is having a lot of mixed emotions right now but never the less he will always love his baby sister no matter what. That is the important thing he needs to realise. I knock on his door but don't get a response so I just open it and see him playing on his iPad.
"Hey little man" I say walking over to sit next to him on the bed placing Lyric in between us.
"Why is she in here?" He asks sounding irritated.
I chuckle at how he isn't easing up. "Come on dude your mum is really upset. You really hurt her by telling her we love Lyric more then you. Can you at least tell us what happened to make you suddenly think this way?"
"It wasn't something...I just...I think I'm just jealous...she gets to spend all day with you and mummy and I have to go to school without anyone...then when I'm home she's always here too and I never get alone time with you or mum..." After he explains this to me it make sense. I never thought about how me stopping work to spend time with Lyric would look to Sammy.
"Buddy you know why I chose to stay home and spend time with your sister?" I ask and he shakes his head no before looking up at me into my eyes. "Because I didn't get to see all those cool things with you when you were her age. I missed out of a lot of stuff in your life buddy and that is something I wont ever get back but it is something that I will always and forever regret. But everytime I see Lyric do something new for the first time I picture you at that age doing the exact same thing and I cant help but be grateful to her for being able to bring that image to my head. I get to see you in her everyday Sammy because she does and will always look up to you. But I will promise you this. One day every week I will spend one on one time with you and another day mum will. How does that sound?" I ask putting my hand on his should while my other supports Lyric so she doesn't slip off the bed.
"Sounds good...and dad?"
"Yeah?"
"I know mum loves me to the moon and back"
