"Why..?" You whispered softly, "Why? Out of all people.. Why did it have to choose her..?"

You rested your back against the wall of your room in the abandoned dorm. There wasn't any more room in the Women's dorm, so Mephestio had chosen to place you in a room a floor above the Okumura's. You shared it with your best friend, who had recently gone with Yukio to go on some training, where he would train her in being a dragoon. Although, she wanted to prove herself to Yukio that she was an amazing dragoon within only a full day of training. Without Yukio noticing, she wandered out and picked a flight with a high-level demon. Yukio didn't make it there in time to save her, and she ended up dying.

"Why..?" You asked again, "Why did this happen?" Tears began falling down your face as you recalled all of those loving memories you had spent with your friend.

Your gripped your head, screaming slightly as you cried uncontrollably.

"(Y/N), are you ok? I heard screaming-" Rin walked into your room worriedly, looking around to see you not there. Then looked over and down, seeing you grip your head.

"(Y/N).." Rin whispered softly, walking inside the room and kneeling down in front of you. He set his katana off to the side, his tail drooping down, "Are you.. Ok?" He asked, "I've never seen this side of you.."

You shook your head, dropping your hands from your head, "no.. I'm not ok." You whispered, "She's gone Rin. She was an idiot and now she's gone.."

"She's in a better place now. Hopefully having a great time with the old man."

Rin looked at you, a frown on his face as he moved your hair out of your face, then placing his hand onto your cheek, making you look at him, "Crying doesn't look good on you.." He told you in a low voice. He moved his hand towards the back of your head, bringing you into a tight hug as your face went into his chest, "So don't cry anymore.. Ok?"

You nodded, scooting closer to the half-demon as you softly cried into his chest.

"Everything's going to be fine now.." He said in a calming voice, stroking your hair & then rubbing your back, "I'm here."

"Rin.. Will you stay with me, always?" You asked, looking up at him, whipping a few tears from your face

He smiled, nodding, "Yes. I'll be by your side, always. Always and forever." He hugged you tightly.

After a few moments, he looked at you, leaned down a bit, and closed his eyes, kissing your lips softly. Your eyes widened softly, although you closed them and relaxed yourself into the kiss, kissing him back.

Rin pulled back in the need for air, looking at you and moving your hair out of your face, "I'll be with you. Whenever you need me, I'll be there. Call my name, and I'll come running to you." He told you, kissing your forehead.

Eventually the two of you fell onto the floor, cuddling and falling asleep in each others arms. Yukio came to check on the two of you the next morning, because Rin hadn't come back when he went to go check on you.

"Nii-San.." He started, opening the door, then seeing the two of you like that, "Never Mind." He smiled, closing the door softly, and then walking away.
