Romance, Alarm Clocks, and Lyrics

6) Typing the lyrics to an entire song into the chapter. Come on guys, is that really necessary? If it has meaning to whatever is going on in the chapter then mention the song, or put one line of the song in. Typing the entire song is completely unnecessary and bores the reader to death. If it inspired you, then post the youtube clip on the side. We are perfectly capable of clicking that little play button and listening to the song. 

7) Punctuation. It really bothers me when writers don't use commas or full stops, or even speech marks. It's really not difficult to push those little buttons people! Google and the internet are such wonderful things, and make it simple to learn things such as when to use a full stop and comma. I almost run out of breath reading some stories because they don't use punctuation. 'Death by lack of punctuation' would be a pretty crappy death don't you think? Basically, if you don't want your readers to die of lack of oxygen, or confusion, then use punctuation!

8) Alarm clocks. At one point or another, we have ALL read a story that begins with the character waking up to an alarm clock. Almost everyone who reads the story have to deal with alarms in their real lives every morning. Why would they want to read about it as well? It's just not entertaining or original anymore guys. Perhaps it was at some point, but definitely not anymore. Heck starting the story by saying someone was SETTING an alarm would be better than reading about them waking up to one. At least it would be different.

9) Love does not happen in a day guys! It takes time and a lot of hard work, and when you make your characters fall in love in the chapter after they meet, it makes me want to scream and run. If love was really like that, then the percentage of single people would definitely be lower than it is right now. Even the rate of divorce would be lower if every marriage was like the relationships in a majority of wattpad romances. They're not going to fall in love in a day! How could they. In reality most people don't even start having proper feelings for someone for like a month of being with them. Sure they can like them, but if they've never even been on a date, how is it possible for them to be in love? Be realistic and stop giving your readers false hope.

10) If I was out one day and accidentally ran into some random guy, there's no way in hell I would give him my number. I don't know many people who would, so why does it happen in so many stories? It drives me insane and makes me want to slap them silly! There is really no logical reason as to why you should give a complete stranger your phone number just because he's 'good looking' and you bumped into him. He could be a stalker, a murderer, hell, he could be the loch ness monster for all you know. it just doesn't happen.
