Chapter 12

Cole's POV

She is gone!

The girl that I actually wanted to spend the rest of my days here with is finally gone. I can not believe Paul took her away from me. I allowed him to take her away and now I feel stupid.

As I walk out of the cafeteria, I take a quick glance outside the window to see if I could paint in the garden. Painting is my only escape. But my heart skips a beat when I see Nancy sitting down under the tree with Earl. She was so graceful and beautiful, how the hell did Paul deceive her into dating him? I could stare at her all day but then I notice her lips are moving. Of course, Earl is helping with her oral speech but never mind.

"Cole"

"Yeah" I said as I turned to see who was disturbing me "Sophie what's up"

"Well I wanted to see if uh"

I look at her and I can not believe what is happening. I told Sophie that I loved her like a few months back and she shut me down saying I was not her type. Now that I have 'found my type' she is so jealous. I look outside the window and I see Nancy and Earl are gone. I start walking down the hall looking for them.

What wait

"Cole I wanted to say....acted...so stupid...you....please give .....please"

I did not hear a thing Sophie was saying. My mind was all over the place.

"Sophie, talk to Earl about your girl problems, I am sorta busy" I said as I raced to the premium gate. From afar I could Nancy preparing to go to the other side.

"Nancy!" I yelled to get her attention. "Nancy, hey"

She just stares at me and I could tell she's been crying.

"What? Are you okay"

She hands me a note, briefly hugs me and walks away.

"Nancy" I called out. "Don't go"

"Cole... what ..are you..doing?" Earl said literally out of breath. He walks up to me and stares at me.

"She can't go Earl" I said

"Yes she can and she wants to" he replied "let her go. You have Sophie remember?"

"No I do not want Sophie" I said "I want you" I said to Nancy.

The premium gates open and the last person I want to see walks out.

"Babe? What's going on? Let's go" Paul said pulling her away.

I was about to grab her when Earl pushed me away. I watched as the gates closed and I felt my world crumble.

She was gone

"Dude!!! She isn't yours! She is with Paul" Earl pointed out.

What was his deal? Why is he against me and Nancy?

"What is wrong with you? You are meant to help me fight for her"

"Can you listen to yourself? Am I the only sane one here? Why are you all behaving like fools? Is it love that has you crying for a girl. A girl who isn't yours?"

I hadn't realized I was crying. I wasn't crying, probably had something in my eyes.

"You can not stop her from doing what she wants and you certainly can't stop her boyfriend from taking her either. You are Herr to get well, do you want to bring her into this nightmare you always have. She needs the best and you cannot afford that Cole"

Earl walks away, leaving me to think about the situation. He always made sense but love didn't have to make sense. Nancy wasn't my girl and i was making a big fuss about it all. She was with someone better and i hope Paul treats her well. I can't let Nancy live in my nightmare. I was going to better myself first. I will get over nightmare then come back to get Nancy I stare at the note in my hand and I am debating between opening it and tossing it away. Sophie was the only girl who could deal with me and I guess maybe she could need some love.
