Ned sat alone in his one bedroom unit staring at the computer screen in front of him. He’d been in and out of the chair all night, as thoughts clashed in his mind. The strong desire to look at Maggie’s Facebook despite promising not to was becoming overwhelming. What’s the big deal? Surely I’m entitled.

Ned poured himself a glass of coke, and placed it on the only coaster to be found in his residence. It was part of a funny Valentines gift from Maggie, that came along with a card containing a picture of two cats sitting next to each other wearing sunglasses. On the card there was a note written in messy handwriting.

To Neddy,

Be Less Self Loathing

Happy Valentines day

Love

Maggie xoxo gossip girl ( I said this like the intro on gossip girl…remember when I convinced you to watch?)

Sipping his drink Ned read over the card twice, and glanced at the coaster, which had a picture of a monkey smoking a cigar on it.  He laughed, and felt a little bit at ease about the thoughts that were entering his mind about Maggie and the Facebook scenario. Why is it so important to her though?

The more he tried not to think about it… the more he actually did think about it. He decided to watch a movie to pass the time until he was thinking rationally.

Maggie was in bed looking at her phone messages, and there were no new ones from Ned. He always messages me first, she thought to herself.

Two days had gone by and still nothing since their day together at the park. Everything went so well...

She gave up and proceeded to get high, and draw designs for clothes she desired to create.

Three movies, and two litres of coke later Ned was still edgy. The longing to view Facebook profile of the girl he fancies was only increasing with each thought.

I deserve to.

Ned took one last walk around his apartment trying to think of excuses both for looking and not looking.  It was now two in the morning, and his eyes were begging for sleep. He checked his phone for any sign of new messages, and there were none. Okay, do it.

He loaded the Internet browser that came up on the Google home page by default. He typed in Facebook and waited impatiently for it to load, and finally it did allowing him to type in his email and password. He quickly glanced at a few random status updates, but they all seemed lame compared to what Maggie would probably be posting.

Ned typed in Maggie’s full name into the search bar and a number of Maggie’s popped up, but he recognized her profile instantly. It was a picture of her biting a flower staring straight at him. Please don’t be set to private. Click.

To his surprise her profile was an open book, and then something caught his full attention. Relationship Status: It’s Complicated with Andy Blue.
