Joe's PoV:

Warm breaths tickling my neck, a protective embrace, and tangled up legs. That's what I woke up to as I batted my eyelashes open. I glanced down at the younger boy who was soundly asleep on my chest, his lips partly open as his nose twitched slightly while his leg draped over my thighs.

I was confused.

What is Caspar still doing here?

We spent the night tangled up like this?

I pulled one hand up and brushed it on my lips lightly.  And that is then my memory hit me.

I kissed him yesterday while we had a small argument in the hot tub, and we made out passionately before I interrupted all that. It wasn't like I wanted to, but I had to. I needed to puke again, and check those new pills out.

I sighed, closing my eyes at the painful disgusting feeling I had every time I barfed my guts out. I was surprised that there was any food left in my stomach in the first place to have caused round two.

I hope this stops soon.

Buzz Buzz Buzz

I flinched at the sound of my phone, and reached out for it urgently. I checked the caller ID in annoyance, and blinked a few times. I knew she'd call. I decided to take it, pressing the green button.

Behold the steps of talking to my sister on the phone.

"Hey Zoe," I said quietly, careful not to wake sleeping Caspar up.

"Morning little bro, you alright?" she chirped.

Step one: talking to me extra nice.

"Yeah I'm alright, you?"

"Alright as well. Listen, Dr. Daniel contacted me about your surgery yesterday..." she paused, " I called mum and dad too. You know, he needed to know if the family was taking the risk."

Step two: talking to me like I was baby.

"mhmm,"  I replied lazily, adjusting myself under Caspar so that I can face away.

"And the medication? You're taking it regularly right? You're not feeling anything weird? You stopped that drinking habit?"

Step three: worry and concern

"Yeah he changed them actually, until the due date."  I slightly whispered, " yup I'm not drinking while I have a student here." Glancing down at Caspar.

Like he'd let me. What a bugger.

"Joseph, " she uttered shakily. And I knew what Zoe was about to say next; I've always known that tone.

Here it goes.

" You- you're going to be fine. This would not change a thing. There are a lot of options we can look at to support you."

Step four: sympathy

And that is what cracks me.

Every. Single. Time.

"Zoe, I need to go." I crooked, feeling the tips of my eyes burning.

I can't cry now. I just can't. I've done enough of that in Brighton.

"But Joe I-"

"Let's meet up later and discuss this, right now I just... yeah I can't do this."  I breathed with a whisper, a tear barely escaping my eye.
