A Shadow Sits
Empty driveway
Tears on cheeks
An empty silence
Volumes speaks
Deep in the corner
A memory view
A shadow remains
Of me and you
As evening progresses
It stretches and grows
Filling the darkness
With memory glow
Your kiss, your touch
When our love was new
Flashback scenes
Of me and you
Your hips, those lips
Those long gone days
Alone with thoughts
Of your sultry gaze
I reach my hand
To catch a part
Of the fleeting shadow
That pricks my heart
But all I grasp
Is empty space
And pray that night
Will slow its pace
So I can bask forever
In these moments here
With fading shadow
That brings you near
The closet is empty
You've fled from sight
I light a candle
And drown pains bite
Those memories of old
Now I'll chase from the room
And ready my heart
For loves fresh bloom
A shadow sits
Showing memories dear
But the candle reminds
You are no longer here
