faded light
Sun sank lower
Diamonds turned to dust
The sunlight passed
But an echo of the day
Lay etched across your face
Colors spiralled into smoke
Twilight settled
Shadows fell into place
Sapphire blue
to
Stormy gray
Skies faded
Remnants of the light
Glowed on
Even after it passed
Faded
Like a sun-bleached cloth
Faded, and disappeared
Like yesterday
Like hearts, still tender at the cracks
Faded
As though they were forgotten
And unwanted
Faded
Like old dreams
Caught is reality's web
The color passing
Wringing out the vibrancy
Just leftovers
Like the faded light
After the sun sets
But before the darkness
Comes to call
