The next call you get from the IRS check this site. It may save you from actually paying the fakers anything.

These scams have been getting bigger lately. We were the ones who were hit today with this 'warning' however, instead of paying upfront and giving them what they wanted right off the bat, which as at this point to go to the bank and withdraw this monstrous amount of money we had no idea we 'owed' In the first place, we went to the local IRS office and confirmed it.
Think before you do. If you think over what they're saying, they didn't even give themselves a position mind you, but what they're saying is how the IRS used to work. Calling and asking for said information over the phone.
If you think, or are suspicious of the person you are talking to, use the site above. The red flag was the demand for the cash at such an inconvenience and no warning beforehand. These are the same people who are supposedly with the popular 'Windows' company. They have scammed before and there are millions out there who have fallen for the scam only to go to the IRS or the major company they were 'called' by and realized that it was in fact a scam. By then its too late to do anything about it.
You may not even realize it at first. My Dad didn't but he double checked before he did anything. We were one of the lucky ones. Be cautious on who you give information to over the phone.
Thank you,
The Hitomichi Family.
