2: At First Sight

Daggers were what Jane sent her brother. She was feeling uneasy ever since she left home. Who wouldn't? She's about to live the rest of her life serving a vampire lord. That's if she could manage to stay alive.

Mixed emotions were wrapped all the way around her heart. Sorrow, anger, jealousy, hatred, sadness, and love. Jane was aware that she'll no longer be normal after this. Because the day after tonight, everything will change into a torment; a nightmare.

Jane thought she would be okay knowing she made the right decision for her father.

"Father, I'm coming. Mother's right. You started this all but somehow, one way or another, I'm your daughter. And to pay you back with everything, with every passion of love you gave me, I'm doing this."

Her earlier statement rang in her mind like a hysteric bell. Sad but it's true. Out of everything, her father was the only one who stayed when everything starts to fade. Jane's heart was fulfilled with her father's undying love for her. Her father is her only reason to live.

No one has to die. That's what she knows. Even if Lord Damien's a royalty, he's not supposed to take charge of Jane's life decisions. But knowing the evil monster, Damien would do everything in his power to erase Gabriel's face off the earth. And if Jane only knew the real reason why.

The butterflies in her stomach seemed to evolve. She's scared, nervous, worried, and frustrated at the same time. Running away to head in the woods might be too insane to do but Trevor's idea was the first thing on Jane's mind.

Her gaze remained on the wooden door. Few moments ago, her parents were asked to enter the room which happens to be Lord Damien's quarters. Though Jane hesitates, there's nothing she could do.

How she wanted to runaway and hide.

"Jane..." Trevor called hopefully, the last of a thousand times. "Please keep in mind every word I'm giving you. You should know what vampires would do."

Jane sighs, oh yes they suck blood out of you. She thought.

"So, have you thought of your plan?" Trevor decided to ask, keeping the former subject out of air.

Jane looks at her brother bemusedly. Plan. She thought. Plan for what? Almost reading her mind, Trevor speaks.

"Oh, you know. Maybe because you thought of taking the whole deal as an advantage to give Lord Moonpain a little revenge." Trevor smirks.

"A little revenge..." Jane mumbles under her breath. She tried to squeeze her mind for details but she failed. Nothing came in. "What?"

Trevor leans in so no one could hear. "Listen carefully. No one knew what Father did to gain a life this miserable. If you really wanted this, then you might as well have to try finding out why he hated Father so much that he's willing to take every risk. Jane, take advantage. Earn his trust and make him believe you're with him. That should be the plan."

She let every letter, syllable; every word sink in and that's when it had hit her hard like a brick. She's not on a deal. She's on a mission.

Her brother was right. She must fight for her father's right. She must take home justice.
