4: An unexpected visit.

It's nearly a week that already passed after the ball. Jane found herself curled up on her bed again. Depressed.

A large and thick thorn has been removed from her throat when her Father told her that she won't be a servant of Moonpain. However, a cold and big block of ice replaced it when the news was broken to her.

She ended up realizing that she couldn't bare such sacrifice. Yes. She loves her father and she knew that she promised herself there's nothing can make her mind change. She's decided to save her family's life including her mother whom she knew wouldn't do the same for her.

Jane understood the problem before. Simply because, it's reasonable. As a daughter, it's her obligation to obey and follow her parent's commands rather, her mother's commands. And she was doing it not for herself but for them. She knew she had to save them.

Now, she seems to be doubting her own mind. There was no way and just no way she could escape this. Even if her father disagrees and even if she disagrees, the deal was made. She's going to marry a prince. And not just any other prince.

Jane is marrying Zayn Darius Malik in change of her family's freedom. Every girl would die to be her right this instant. Many had drooled over the prince's charm and beauty. Many had died watching him smile and look their way. Many wished to be noticed or be given a quick glance. Who wouldn't?

However, Jane doesn't see the goodness of it all. Jane would be more pleased if Zayn was just anothe prince; if Zayn was just another human being. She can't stand the idea of serving a vampire lord and now, she needs answer on how to be married to a vampire prince.

She'd spend her every hour of the day stuck in the palace; eating, drinking blood.

She could hear things and rumors about Zayn but that would only be the unpleasant ones. She once heard how he went all drunk and threatened the people at the market. She also heard how the prince was named to be an animal killer.

All that facts made Jane shiver and frightened. Now, she's thinking of ending her life. But, really. Why would Zayn want to marry her?

A knock on the door made Jane drop all the illusions. She leaned back on her bed's headboard and lifted the duvet cover up to her chin.

"Jane my dear, how are you doing?" Claire asked with fake tenderness, sitting at the edge of Jane's bed trying to sound concern.

Jane let out a sigh of frustration and shrugged. "I'm feeling very good mother thank you very much". Jane thought. She was so tempted to answer back but she held the words.

"I'm good Mother."

Claire nodded and gave her a beam. She studies her daughter's beautiful face and inwardly chuckled at how incerdible she has grown. She definitely looks like her father much more than Claire does. With no doubt, Claire knows Jane isn't feeling too comfortable around her. She knows how Jane hates her to her very inch.

But somehow, Claire can't help but feel really guilty.

If Jane only knew...

"My dear sweetheart, I hope this is not turning as punishment to you for something you did not do." She explains, gently rubbing her daughter's knee. "Everything will make perfect sense in the end."

Jane looks at her and almost returned a huff, a frown. But then, she stayed still and looked away. Everything will make perfect sense in the end? Mother, then tell me why am I supposed to give up my freedom? My happiness? Why was I even brought here in the world just to die?
