☪Dark and Mysterious Love Trilogy:
"Roses of Possession"
10: Miss Royalty
"Ellen, come on. Speak." Jane exasperatedly sighed, watching the young servant collect the laundry. Sure thing, her jaw was too tired from speaking again and again trying to make Ellen say even a single word. Ellen cleaned the room, served her food, opened the curtains without a flinch.
Jane knows why Ellen keeps things to herself. Because repetitively, Jane was informed that servants are not allowed to talk to royalties and it made Jane feel very bad. Jane is relatively normal if compared to any other maiden in her same position. At least, Jane's not swimming in the pool of wealth, drowning themselves with greediness and cruelty.
She's still the same. She don't see why people treat her differently up to now.
"Ellen, please. I've got to talk to you!" Jane pleaded, almost on her knees. The leather suit she was wearing isn't too comfortable and it makes her wince with every move she makes. Although, it was quite better than gowns and dresses. "Ellen, please."
Finally, the servant looked at her and gave in. She put the laundry basket down and sat at the edge of the bed before looking around. It was prohibited. Touching things, having contact with them. "Jane, you know I'm not allowed to-"
"I don't care." Jane cut her. "Ellen, I'm desperate. I don't know how to respond anymore. With every minute that I do last in this place, it's killing me."
"Your majesty, you know I have no right for a single word to that. Besides, even if I give you some words of encouragement, you're still obliged to remain as a princess." Ellen calmly explained. She looked down, and nibbled her bottom lip. If only I were you Jane, I would never let go of the chance. Prince Zayn is too precious to reject. The servant thought.
"Ellen, how did you accept that you're no longer free?"
Ellen remained silent for a moment before letting her blue eyes meet Jane's. "Well, I do know that birds are meant to fly but sometimes butterflies die. All I'm saying is, Jane, I never wanted to be a servant but what could I do? This is what life's giving me. I have to deal with it."
Deal with it.
Isn't that what Zayn told her last night? Deal with it and let happiness fly away? Life isn't so fair. Out of all girls out there, why her? Every day is not the same without her father's smile greeting her a 'good morning sweetheart', without her brother's giggly voice that gives her a thing early in the morning or even her mother's blank stare as she sits on the dining table.
No matter how small things are, she misses them. Every bit of them.
"Jane, Harry is waiting for you at the courtyard." A familiar voice owned by Leila announced as she peeked by the door. With one wink, she disappeared out of sight leaving Jane uncertain again.
In major hurry, Jane bid Ellen goodbye and jogged down the hall, hoping to catch Leila walking. She sure doesn't want to walk by herself as much as possible.
The palace halls and corridors are becoming quite familiar to her already. But she didn't want to know anything about it or about vampires and their history even if she knows she'd be a part of their world. A big part of their world. When she heard Harry speak about showing her around last night, she was positive it was made up by the prince. He was trying to get in Zayn's nerves.
...and it worked.
Jane spent the rest of her night cuddled up under the sheets, afraid that Zayn would boom in any second that he desires. There were finger marks on her right wrist caused by Zayn again. Actually, Harry had knocked some sense into her. She realized that sometimes, she has to fight.
