The events that led to the tennis court oath were that. They were mad they didn't want to approve the idea that each representative should get one vote. Then the Estates General locked them out of the meeting room. So they broke into an indoor tennis court and the delegates from the third estate renamed themselves the National Assembly. They claimed to represent all the people, this was the beginning of the representative government for France. They pledged that they would meet until there was a new constitution written.
