The Reign of Terror was through (September 5, 1793 - July 28, 1794) Maximilian Robespierre takes power, the goal was to create a republic of virtue. They tried to organize society and to get rid of religion, they closed churches. The committee & public safeties goal was to protect the revolution from it's enemies. Their enemies were anyone who challenged Robespierre's leadership or whoever disagreed with him. Also whoever was less radical than him. He was executed in October 16, 1793, before the Reign of Terror ended approximately 40,000 people were executed including Robespierre himself.
