Soon after the the Storming of the Bastille the national assembly writes a charter called the Declaration of the Rights of Man. Classes are abolished and all men are considered equal so they abolished the classes of society. It did not apply to women, Olympe de Gouge, wrote the Declaration of the Rights of Women. She was declared an enemy of the state and she was executed. One of the early drafts of the Declaration of the Rights of Man was written by Marquis de Lafayette. The final draft of the Declaration was adopted by the National Assembly on August, 1789.Women still angry about the high price of bread lead a crowd of rioters to the palace of Versailles. When Marie hears about them, legend says she said "Let them eat cake" but she actually never said that. And she probably didn't know that people were starving and hungry.
