Will's POV: "What?" I almost yelled. "I thought you were my sister!" Autumn had tears forming in her eyes. "I-I'm sorry.   My dad told me not to tell anyone. Plus, I only found out two years ago." She bit her lip. "Apollo agreed to take me in as his own daughter, so I wouldn't get killed."

"Why can that Jackson kid show off his heritage but not you?" I demanded. "After all, you are two whole years older than him, plus you're a girl! What is it that the mortals say, 'Women are smarter?' You could've survived without going undercover!" I was furious. Not at Autumn, but at the gods. Every little thing any god did, I'd be so mad about ever since Shawn's death...

I took a deep breath. "Sorry I lashed out at you. It's not your fault. It's just...well, you know my thing..." Autumn nodded in understanding. "I'll start at the beginning."

*flashback*
Autumn's POV: "How's my little six-year-old doing?" Daddy asked me. "Not good! I want candy!" I whined. He smiled in his from in his palace. "All right. But only if you come in." I curiously looked at the large castle from the front gate. "Go in the big castle?" I asked. Poseidon, my dad, smiled. "Yes, go in the big castle." "Okay!" I said, a little more cheerfully. I followed him inside.

The palace was beautiful. Even though I had been inside a lot, the design was still amazing. There was a merman with two tails. I pointed at him and said, "Mermaid man has two fish legs!" Dad laughed. "Calla, dear, that's Triton, your brother!" Daddy liked calling me by my real name because it meant 'most beautiful' in Greek. Autumn was just my middle name. I looked at Triton questioningly. "Like the gum?" I asked. Triton laughed and ruffled my hair. "No, 'Trident' is the gum. My name is 'Triton.' I cocked my head. "Huh?" Triton just chuckled and shook his head like he knew something I didn't.

As we left the ballroom, I told Dad, "One day, I'm gonna have fish legs, too! Just. Like. Twiton." He smiled, but it quickly faded as we arrived to the throne room, where Amphitrite and Triton were waiting. Daddy Poseidon sat down on one of the chairs.

"Come, Callista. Sit." I skipped over by his side and obediently sat down. "Okay, now that Calla has sat down, we have to get to business." Business? What business? "Are you gonna make money?" I piped up. Poseidon smiled weakly. "No. I-I'll actually be losing something." Triton and Dad looked sorrowful, and Amphitrite looked ready to cry.

Just then, a cheerful man strolled in. Well, more like a teenager. He had golden hair, deep blue eyes, and was wearing a sleeveless T-Shirt. "Hello, Poseidon! Triton, Lady Amphitrite." The man/teenager greeted.

"Who are you?" I asked curiously. "You look different. ' Cause you don't have fish legs like ALL the other mermaid mans in Daddy's big castle."

The man/teenager smiled sympathetically. "I take it you're Callista Autumn Carcellan?" I nodded. "Beautiful name. I'm Apollo, god of the sun, medicine, music, and whatnot. I'm going to be your new dad for a while."

I shook my head, "What do you mean? My daddy is Poseidon. He is really, really, REALLY, powerful. He can make people explode into little tiny pieces!" I smiled proudly. Apollo stared wide-eyed at me. "Cool..." was all he said.

Dad tried to blink away tears. "I'm so, so, sorry, my little Autumn. You're so young and innocent." He whispered. I didn't dare say anything. I just watched as he took out a beautiful necklace that was silver and had a sea-green stone surrounded by Pegasus wings on the sides.

Apollo's eyes widened. "That's not...not it, is it? The-" he blinked. "The amulet of the sea?" Daddy didn't answer. He only put the necklace around my neck. "Keep this necklace with you at all times. Never, ever, lose it. And, never take it off. Can you promise me this?" He held out his pinky. I intertwined my pinky with his. "I promise, Daddy." Poseidon looked to Apollo. "Swear to me you'll keep her safe." Apollo nodded solemnly. "I will." Dad blinked and kissed the top of my head. "Take her, Apollo." He then looked at me. "Good-bye, my precious angel."

Autumn's POV: "And that's how I ended up here." I finished up. "Wow..." Will said. "So, basically, Apollo...adopted you?" "Pretty much." I answered. "And while I'm telling you all this, I might as well say how...how Shawn died." Will brushed my cheek. "You don't have to, Autumn." "I want to, William." I told Will, using his full name.

*flashback*

Shawn and I were 16, on our third quest. We were currently facing a army of snake-ladies. Shawn had lectured me on what they were called, the geek, but I forgot, being me. He was a son of Athena, with sandy-blond hair and piercing hazel eyes. We had been dating for a month, and loved each other to the death.

Anyway, the snake-women advanced on us, five at a time. We were on a narrow bridge, so only a few could attack at the time. It was like that Roman what's-his-name guy at the bridge a gajillion years ago. The fighting went on for about 10 minutes, when I heard one of the monsters yell, "You idiot! Fire the arrow like this!" I didn't pay attention to what she was saying because I was too busy fighting. A few minutes later, we were about to slay the last monster, when I heard a whoosh, Shawn telling me to watch out, and a body thud. I turned around, to see an arrow had pierced through Shawn's heart.

"Shawn!" I cried out. He winced in pain and weakly muttered my name. "Autumn..." he coughed. "I'm dying soon. D-don't argue..." Shawn wheezed. I let tears fall onto the ground as I kneeled beside him. "No, no, I'll get you some nectar. You'll be fine. You will be fine!" He caressed my cheek, but his hand quickly fell to the ground.

"Autumn. Listen." Shawn said. "A-A giant named Polybotes is going to rise Kronos, who will rise Gaea. To do that, he'll need the amulet of the sea, which you're wearing," he coughed again. "The winged sandals of Hermes, and the sword of truth, a very powerful sword. May-maybe the most powerful." Blood was trickling out Shawn's nose by now.

"No..." I mumbled. Shawn smiled. "Princess, promise me you'll stop him." I buried my face on his chest. "I promise." I whispered. "Go-good." Shawn shook. "I...love..." he stared into the sky. "You..." and then there was silence.

"NO!" I screamed into the sky. "No..." I wept softly to myself. I pulled Shawn's dead body into a nearby abandoned cottage, then pulled the sheets over him. "I love you, too." I told him. I turned around to leave for home, with the guilt that I just killed my lover.

*end of flashback*

Autumn's POV: I was choking with tears at this point. Will wrapped his arms around me. "It's okay, little sis, I miss him, too." I stared into the horizon ahead, where the sun was just setting. "I've gotten over Shawn a little, move on, right? Well, I used to like Mike, too, until he started...well, there isn't a word that can describe what he is now. But if there was a word, it'd be 'devil'."

Author's Note
=========================
Finally updated again? Ha! Don't read this next bold part unless you want spoilers: Mike is actually possessed by a demon, which forces him to do bad things. It was originally only supposed to last for five years, but he gave his life for Autumn not being corrupted, too. So, yeah. Also, this chapter was my longest so far. 1330 words. Took me a good hour to write. Until next time,
