Autumn's POV: Last night I couldn't stop dreaming about what Mike did. The worst part was that Jessica died a few weeks later due to too much pain from her body. Imagine if I actually had been sent on that quest with him...that would have been terrible. Good thing Katie was a good friend and didn't force me into going on the quest.

I walked back to my cabin where Will was waiting for me at the door. He was grinning. "Congrats, sis! You're going on your first quest!" I frowned. Didn't he know I said I didn't want to go? "What do you mean, Will? I decided to stay." Will furrowed his brow. "But..." he seemed to be thinking. "Katie told me that you were going on the quest and personally asked her to pack for you." What! Katie'd never do that, especially if she knew I gave her a verbal 'no'. Was Will lying? If he was, what was the reason?

Will saw the look of confusion of my face and said, "Wait here, I'll show you the backpack she packed!". He ran inside our cabin and took out a backpack. It was a creamy color, and this is what I know about cream-colored backpacks: few campers own backpacks besides Katie. And only Katie has white, decorated, or creamy backpacks. So that meant it was Katie's.

"Oh, you have gotta be kidding me." I was so mad that Katie defied my direct directions to tell Chiron no. No! Do I need to give her a lecture on what the word 'no' means? I thought she was my friend! "When I get my hands on that little daughter of Demeter, I'm gonna-" "No need for threats, Autumn. It'll be fun, just give the quest a try!" Will urged me to try out to quest. But I knew his weak spot. I was going to get out of this mess.

"But-but, what if I get hurt, or even worse, die? You wouldn't want that, would you?" I tried to look innocent, and it worked. Will pursed his lips. "Well..." After some thinking, he said, "Don't worry, you won't get hurt! I'll go with you and protect you!" I wanted to laugh, but I guess that would be mean. "No offense, Will, but, you're not exactly a fighter. You're a healer." "Exactly!" Will said. "Then, I can heal you if you do get hurt!"He looked as if he just came up with the best idea ever. There was no way I would win this argument. "Fine," I caved in. "Let's go."

"Wait, wait, wait." Will called out. "What," I asked, clearly annoyed. "Liam, just leave me some time to think, okay?" Will glared at me. "You know I hate that nick-name, right?" I giggled. "That's why I use it. Anyway, what did you want to ask me?" William's glaring toned down a little, but not much. "What's our quest?" My face paled. "Well..." I started. "So there's this giant named Polybotes. He needs three magical items to raise Kronos and all those evil guys again."

Will tilted his head. "And what are these three magical items?" He asked.

I closed my eyes, not wanting to tell Will of the danger those weapons possessed. "The amulet of the sea, which I'm wearing on my neck, the winged sandals of Hermes, which the new girl, Skye, is supposed to receive, and the sword of truth...the most powerful weapon of all ages."

"Who has it?" Will asked. I swallowed hard. "Polybotes. We're supposed to force Polybotes into telling us where the location of the sword is, or we'll kill him." Will smirked. "Like you won't kill him anyway?" I smiled a little at that comment. "Well, let me go get Mike real quick so we can leave." Will said. "Go ahead and say bye to Katie." I nodded. "Okay." Like I would say bye to that little traitor? I didn't want Will worry, though, so I agreed with him anyway. I glared at the pack Katie gave Will, then opened it up. It contained our needs and more. I zipped it back up, then slung it over my shoulder and went to wait for Will on Thalia's hill.

Five minutes later, Will came back with Mike and some magic items, so we said our goodbyes-me still avoiding Katie-and left with Mike to our destination: Texas, home of the Lone Star Flag.

Author's Note:

=========================

I know, I know, the quest still hasn't begun even though it was supposed to two chapters ago! Whatever, people! An author's gotta take her time! Also, I know this chapter was short but I wanted to make it short so we could get on with the quest. And if you're asking why I chose Texas, that's where I live. Go cowboys! Just kidding, guys, and again, thanks for reading my story. Until next time,
