Poseidon's POV: There was a whispering in the throne room of Olympus. "Father, do you really think..." Athena began nervously. No one dared to finish what she was going to say. "Yes, Athena. I'm afraid we must do it, with Poseidon's permission." Zeus replied grimly. "So, brother, have you made up your mind yet?" I glared at Zeus. I didn't like the choice I was given.
"Fine. But only this once!" I said as harshly as possible. "You know we don't have a choice, Poseidon." "I know. It's just..." "Just what?" "Never mind."
I could tell that Lord Zeus didn't actually think I meant 'never mind'. Well, he's right. It's something much, much, more important. Something that could end my daughter's life (A/N *gasps* Poseidon has a daughter! You: Why didn't you tell us in the information part of the story!!! Me: 'Cause, bro. I'm me and that's that.)
I'm not telling you who my daughter is! That would put her in danger. I'll tell you something else, though. What the bargain was. Zeus here didn't have enough power to defeat Pol-erm, I mean one of our greatest enemies. The other gods didn't want to help him defeat the enemy, so Zeus turned to me for power. Yeah, that's right. He wanted my trident, strength, power, and pretty much every war item I owned.
What did I get for all that? My most beloved daughter's death. Well, not really. The exchange item was his lightning bolt, his symbol of power. I bet you're thinking, 'WHOA, AWESOME!'. Yeah, it's pretty horrible. Once I touch that bolt, my daughter's life will end. How? Well, once a god touches another god's symbol of power, their most prized possession disappears. In my case, dies. I didn't want that to happen. But I didn't have a choice, either! Zeus would attack me and force me to hand over my trident. I lose in any way. Better to spare at least a few things.
I'm a terrible father, I know. My daughter doesn't even know me. Yes, I know her name, but I'm not allowed to say it out loud. Anyways, I have no idea what to do. Too late to turn back, too late to deny. Maybe, just maybe, I can do something to save someone's life. Hers. But that would come at great risk.
