Will's POV: I opened my eyes to smoke and ash as I tried to recall what happened. We were going on the plane to Texas. What else? I tried to get up but couldn't. My head throbbed. Now I remember...Mike had split personality, and he had a message on his lap. It contained helpful information, if I had listened to it sooner.
I looked around. No signs of danger anywhere. I closed my eyes. All I wanted to do was get some rest. Wasn't that what I told Nico di Angelo? Now I need to follow my own advice.
Snap out of it! I told myself. Ugh, why do I have to be so stubborn to myself? I tried to close my eyes, but I felt a strange presence near me. I forced myself to get up. Think about Autumn. What if she's in danger? A tiny part of my mind said. That got my attention. I looked around for my sister, and she was right next to me, sound asleep.
Aw, she's so lucky! She gets to rest! Okay, I'm fighting against myself. I think I'm going crazy. I shook the thoughts away and looked for Mike. He was nowhere to be seen. I started to worry, not necessarily for his safety, but for mine andAutumn's. Last we saw, he was holding a knife. And looked more than ready to kill us.
I tried to walk, but felt a piercing pain in my left leg. I looked down to see what was wrong, and put my hands over my mouth to keep from screaming. My leg had a huge sword lodged in it.
Mike was the only one that could've done this! Where is the little punk, anyway? I tried to ignore the burning pain and help Autumn up, when I noticed her wound. It was way worse than mine.
"Oh, gods, Autumn...what happened to you?" I whispered in fear. There was a glass shard-a very big one at that-stuck just a few centimeters from her heart. I pressed on the wound and the shard popped out. Thank Apollo it wasn't as deep as I thought.
There wasn't very much bleeding, luckily. I slowly put my ear on her chest and my heart skidded to a stop. Autumn's heartbeat was starting to slow. What was going on? I thought the wound was okay! I started to run for help, but the throbbing in my leg stopped me. I yelped in pain. "Styx!" I looked at Autumn, who was now awake and staring at the sword.
"Will..." She croaked. I scooted over to her and put a finger on her lips. "Uh-uh, no talking. It'll take too much strength." She looked once again at my injury. "But-" I cut her off. "What did I say? No. Talking." Autumn nodded in understanding, but couldn't tear her eyes away from the sword.
I help her sit up and she wrote in the dirt: 'Water'. I squeezed her hand and went to look for fresh water. Autumn seemed to notice I was thinking about it, because she wrote in the dirt, 'Salt.' I was really confused at this point, but got Autumn her saltwater anyway. "Here." I said. She nodded as her way of saying thanks and poured the water all over my wound. I screamed in pain. Autumn then put a hand over the water, and when I looked back, the wound was healed. "H-how?" I managed. Autumn gave me a weak smile. "Daughter of Poseidon."
Author's Note
===========================
Hey guys! Sorry the chapter was so freaking short. I promise, it'll be longer next time. Also, Kris has started the quest in her fanfiction. She changed the title to "Skye and the Winged Sandals of Hermes" 'cause that's what it's about. Did you see the new cover? I made it myself. Pretty awesome, eh? I made it on Wattpad Covers, the app to making covers for Wattpad. It's pretty cool. Try it out. I know the title doesn't look like Autumn and Mike, but it's supposed to be them in the sequel, 'cuase, you know, they're gonna be older. I might change the title again and use that cover for the sequel, so, yeah. Until next time,Save the world
