Part 3
June 12 2011 Sunday
"Can't take anymore surprises"
Yesterday me and the guys agreed on what were going to do at school.
I already promised Chancey that we'd reveal our friendship in time. Wow, it sounds like we're hiding the Prince's secret love affair. Haha. I just know that the media would go stir crazy when they find out the heir of Caprione Co. was and has always been the Prince's best friend. They'd go even crazier when they find out I'm the mystery girl.
The worst part is, I know they'll misinterpret our secrecy and friendship for love, and I don't mean the best friend kind of love. Chancey has never had a girlfriend neither have I. My schoolmates already think our being 'best friends' is the reason why. It's so stupid and illogical. I pointed out to them that I don't believe people have soul mates, and falling in love is irrational. I also pointed out that Chancey hasn't found a girl he likes too much to introduce to us. Okay,he never really said that, that's just what I know he'll answer; although our usual answer as to why is because we don't really like anyone.
For the first few days, Jamie and Chancey have to pretend to not know us personally. During those days, I'll find my friends ---which by friends I mean people who are wonderful and aren't friends with me because of the Princes.
Lee, Ben and I will stick together and find our group then, and only after then, will we acknowledge Chancey and Jamie.
It was very easy to come to that agreement since Jamie and Chancey are very understanding *note the heavy sarcasm*. It took my best puppy dog face and saddest expression for them to agree.
Auntie and Uncle are supposed to be back later, that explains all the sounds of running and calls of the staff from down the hall. Chancey just told me to stay in my room since they're busy.
My ankle's fine now; although the doctor said not to do anything to hurt my ankle since it just healed. Mary stayed in my room for a while after my breakfast-in-bed but left eventually, because she had some things to attend to. Lunch was the same as breakfast, -----in-bed and Mary leaving eventually--- so I decided to sleep 'til Auntie and Uncle arrived. I felt like lazing around.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My eyes shot open. I grabbed the hand that shook me, and I twisted it. Ughh! Chancey. He groaned. I was having a beautiful dream of me riding in my new Baby Red aka my car on a scenic road. I let go of his hand and glared at him.
I hissed and sat up.
"What!?"
As you must've noticed, I get grumpy when someone sneaks up on me; crushing my sweet, sweet, beautiful dreams.
He laughed as he scratched the back of his neck.
"Mom and Dad are in the grand ballroom, and they brought you another gift. They wanted to see you in it."
I just noticed his ensemble. I took it in slowly, he was wearing Brioni tailored clothes. He hates wearing expensive suits, unless there's a big occasion. Heck, he even combed his hair to the right. I especially love the cute little bow tie.
He noticed me taking in his clothes and smirked.
"Like my suit?" he asked with one of his eyebrows raised.
I let out a short laugh and smirked back at him.
"I didn't think anyone could make Brioni look horrible."
He playfully stuck his tongue out at me with a smile playing on his lips.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, whatever, Annie. Now, be a good little princess and change. I'll be back in 10."
He chuckled before exiting my room. As soon as Chancey went out, Mary came in with a red dress.
Auntie and Uncle wanted to see me in that? Good golly apple sauce.
"Hey, Mare, do you have any idea of why I'm supposed to wear that?"
She beamed at me, ignoring my question.
"Put this on, and I'll comb your hair. We don't want the king and queen to wait for long."
I sighed and got out of bed. No point wasting my time pouting and huffing; Mom and Dad will probably be here anyways. I stood in front of Mary while she held the dress up. I just noticed how beautiful it is, and how much damage the dress must've done on their bank accounts. Uggh.
I have to admit, the dress really is breathtaking; I rarely find interest in dresses. I took the dress from Mary and changed in my walk-in closet quickly. As I got out, Mary looked at me in awe and handed me heels. I threw them to the corner and rummaged through my converse collection and found my customized Chuck Taylor All Star X-Hi. I slipped it on and tied the knots.
"The dress is very beautiful on you, Anna. And the shoes are, uhh, you, I guess. Come sit, so I can fix your hair."
I mumbled a thank you and slowly sat down on the chair in front of the vanity table.
She brushed out the knots in my hair, tied the hair on the top into a pony --clearing my face of hair --and let the rest of my hair fall down my shoulders. She insisted on putting make-up on me, so I let her apply a little.
She applied silver eyeshadow and curled my long eyelashes. She added just a faint pink blush and red lipstick, topped off with shimmering lip gloss. I admired how it all brought my eyes out. Mary praised my beauty, which I didn't appreciate.
Then my door creaked open, and Chancey entered. I watched as his reflection folded his arms on his chest and leaned on the wall by the doors.
"You've done a wonderful job, Mary. You should hurry now," he said.
With that, Mary smiled back at me and curtsied while beaming before she rushed out.
"Okay.. Why does she have to hurry?" I raised an eyebrow at his reflection.
He shrugged then came near me. Standing at my back, he put his hands on my bare shoulders.
He smiled brightly at my reflection and held his hand up, dangling a golden heart-shaped necklace with diamonds and a ruby. He snaked his hand around my neck and locked it on.
"It's perfect, Chancey."
It really was since I don't really wear earrings. In a way, it matches my charm bracelet---which I always seem to forget I'm wearing. I only started wearing it when I arrived here since the incident. I got out of the chair as Chancey moved back. I beamed at him as I slid my left arm into the crook of his right.
"Why are we wearing these?"
"Well, Mom and Dad said they bought it for us and said it would be perfect. So they wanted to see how perfect they really are on us."
I wasn't looking at his face, but I heard a very quiet and held back squeak in his voice. No one usually notices it, and I only started noticing it when he lied when we were 14. I don't wanna argue with him and force him to tell me what's really going on. He'll just tease me and change the subject constantly.
I looked up at him, raising an eyebrow. He smiled a small smile then a blank expression came onto his face, indicating something's bothering him. I shouldn't meddle in, he likes to figure things out himself. I wonder if it has something to do with him lying. Hmm.
We walked to the grand ballroom in comfortable silence. When we got there, Chancey nodded to the guards stationed with his still blank expression. They opened the grand double doors, revealing darkness.
Chancey led me in, and the door behind us closed; leaving us in total darkness. Then Chancey broke free from my arm, and I stood there alone in the cool black room. I was about to turn back and head out when....
"Surprise!"
I was taken aback. I put a hand over my frantically beating heart as the room was filled with light. I was by the main floor entrance of the grand ballroom. My eyes adjusted to the light, and I examined the room. Red and gold streamers and metallic paper ran around the gigantic ballroom. A dozen chandeliers lit up the room. The round tables were skirted with gold cloth. The opposite half of the room was cleared with a wooden stage in front of the grand staircase. A gigantic tarpaulin banner hung from the ceiling behind the stage, in front of the grand staircase, on the opposite side of the room.
My jaw dropped. The banner had different pictures of me and people I knew. It was categorized: on the top right part, it was labeled best friends; on the top left, Family; the bottom left, Childhood; the lower right, Friendship. In the middle was a close up picture of me surrounded by little single pictures of me, and surrounding those were pictures from each of our birthdays.
Our family's (Chancey's and my family's) family picture. Me in my uniform. Me with my friends at Starbucks laughing. The only picture Chancey and I took together during prom from Chancey's phone.
A picture of Chancey and Jamie with me on the beach of Fernando de Noronha in Brazil just recently, in our swimsuits. Oh French fries! I was wearing a bikini when we were gazing into the sunset and yet we looked like we we did it on purpose for the photo. Fudge. Why'd I agree to wearing that stupid bikini again? Oh, yeah, Mom said she wouldn't bring me to the diner that served super-delicious red velvet cake. Hihihi...Mmmmmm cake.......
Another picture caught my eye. I didn't know someone pictured us then; it was of me and Chancey at Iguazu Falls from 2 years ago. We were on the bridge and he had his arm slung over my shoulder, and I was laughing at something he said, and he was looking down at me with those eyes. He had the biggest smile on his face as he was watching me, and you could see the rainbow in the background and the beautiful sparkling water. Note to self: I've got to get a copy of that.
I remembered all the times the pictures on the banner were taken, except those of me and Chancey. Most of them I didn't know someone had taken pictures, and some I don't remember. Like when Chancey and I were stargazing when we were 16; I thought we were alone.
Another one in a club, Chancey and I were at the bar, laughing at the crazy drunk people. It was quite dark, so he didn't need a full blown disguise. We usually go to clubs to laugh at the stupid things people do. We have fake ID's, which say my name is Coco Chanel. Haha. The bouncers just let us through, they didn't even question the name. Well, maybe it was because Chancey and I are taller than most and look more mature as they say. Just kidding, I wink at the them and they just let us through. I have to get my ego checked, one of these days.
There was also a picture of me and Chancey on the slopes from last december. Chancey was on his butt while I laughed as I pulled him up.
Another picture I never knew someone had taken was of Chancey and me in the Movie Room at the house, not my home. Chancey was on the farthest left side of the couch: his arms circled around my sleeping form, his head nestled on top my head, his nose in my hair while I was leaning on him, my head on his chest, my hands circling my knees that I brought up to my chest. My red blankey was wrapped around us. We were both smiling while we were sleeping.
Then there was the biggest picture in the middle, or should I say, the biggest three. Nati needed perfect pictures that displayed intense emotions for her photography class project when Chancey and I were 15. She was desperate since she only had a day left, so she asked us.
We rejected, but she really needed it, and we wanted to help. That's how those pictures came to be. She took it during sunset. She positioned Chancey and I right in the middle of the beach Nati had given to me, so that we were right in the middle of the setting sun.
She told us to pose any way we wanted as long as it screamed romance. She made me wear a very short silver dress, and Chancey was shirtless, showing off his 8-pack and was wearing camouflage shorts. And we were both barefooted.
Chancey's right hand was on my hip and his left pretending to brush stray strands of hair from my face. My arms were around his neck, and we leaned in, our foreheads colliding, and our noses touching slightly on the tip. The wind made my hair flow to my back, and Chancey's brown hair fell in between his eyes. We were both beaming at each other, and we stared into each other's eyes as Nati took her shots.
We had to do three poses.
Another one we took: my left hand was on his chest, while my right index finger tugged on his belt loop teasingly, his hands were on my hips, pulling my lower body near him, while my upper body leaned back, laughing and staring into his eyes while he had a teasing smile on his and stared back at me intensely with that weird look.
The last one we did was Chancey and me walking into the sunset. Chancey put his right arm around my neck, and I intertwined my right hand's fingers in his and slipped my left hand around his waist. We were diagonal of the sunset, making it look like we were walking to it. Our heads were tilted, so we could see each other. The tip of his nose touched my cheek while we both still stared into each other's eyes, both of us laughing--if only Nati knew we were laughing about how she was going to embarrass her future baby--- making it look very real.
The pictures did seem very convincing, even Nati's classmates and teachers thought it was all very real. They kept saying the way we stared into each other's eyes couldn't be faked. Well, that just shows how great Chancey and I are in acting. But why are those pictures up there!? People might get the wrong ideas. They might think I'm in love with my best friend, --who just so happened to be the prince-- and now they have some sort of fake proof. Who even allowed--------
I was snapped out of my reverie as someone tugged on my hand.
"Honey?"
"Anna darling, what's the matter?"
I blinked then looked at Mom to my left and Auntie to my right.
They were both wearing lovely evening gowns, looking at me worriedly.
"Where did you get those stolen pictures!?"
I pointed to the tarpaulin, glaring at each of them. Auntie and Mom were about to speak, but I half-whispered, half-yelled again, "And Nati promised not to give anyone copies of those embarrassing pictures!"
They both looked relieved. Why would they be relieved? There's nothing to be relieved about this people!
Mom and Auntie both smiled at me. I just gave them my signature what-the-freak look.
"Come on, honey. Enjoy your party."
Before I could answer, they both nudged me towards the crowd of people. I put on the mask of happiness I had perfected over the years, and I felt everyone's eyes on me. I was instantly caught in a giant bear hug from Benny with my close friends behind him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Time passed slowly.
Everyone was surprised when Nati and Eric came. They were even more shocked when they saw little Nate. They rarely bring him with them on big gatherings like this or out in public. Of course I've seen Nate often, considering I'm family. They couldn't stay long since they just wanted to see how I was doing, and I thanked them multiple times for everything. I also yelled at Nati in a low voice about the pictures. She and Eric just laughed, and they had to leave since they had things to take care of.
In between the requests to dance, girls teased me about the horrifying pictures. A lot of people hid their sadness of me leaving well, better than Keely who had been crying for the first part of the night. I reassured her we'd see each other a lot. She thought I was stopping myself from crying, but I'm not emotional. I actually hate crying, in a way. Dan, the royal chef, cooked and baked my favorite food; assuring my presence near the long table filled with food for most of the middle of the party.
Speaking of the pictures, I mean rather the people in it, I haven't seen Chancey all night except for when he had that blank expression on his face since I was too busy entertaining everyone.
From the corner of my eye, I saw Amanda with her barbie friends. I haven't talked to them at all, I'm glad I've avoided them. Then I saw Amanda looking curiously at something, or someone. I couldn't be sure, but it was not my business.
I found Jamie, Mary and Lee together with Macy, Amanda's protégé, if you get what I mean.
I surprised Jamie by hugging him from the back. He was about to push me off but laughed when he realized it was me.
"I haven't talked to you guys all night. What's up with that?"
I pouted while they laughed under their breath, and Macy sent me a smug look.
"We thought you'd like to treasure your time with them."
I raised an eyebrow at Jamie.
"Yeah, yeah. By the way, I also haven't seen Chancey tonight. Have you guys seen him?"
They shrugged, and Macy smirked. What's up with her?
I excused myself and headed to the one place Chancey would surely be at if he weren't here. Under the grand staircase, there was a secret door that looked like an ordinary wall. It was actually a small room. Chancey and I escaped there all the time during parties since no one seemed to know about it.
I dodged people easily. As I neared, I noticed the door was open slightly. I peered in to check if it really was Chancey.
My heart stopped for a moment there.
I gasped inaudibly at the sight...........................................
**************Amanda's POV***************
I slowly opened the door where I saw Chancey disappear from. I slipped in and grinned at him. He grinned back and waved me over.
"So, it's a deal then?" I asked.
He nodded and still had the grin on his face. He slipped his hand around my waist and I put my hands on his chest.
"But this is the last time, right?" he asked.
"Aww.. I thought you loved me?" I pouted at him, and he chuckled.
"But, you do promise, right?"
"Yeah, yeah. Come on, pucker up, lover boy." I smiled at him seductively and brought my lips to his.
Princes really do know how to kiss. He closed his eyes as I kissed him, but I kept mine open. Too bad little miss princess doesn't know about all of this. I smiled widely as I moved my lips with his.

Oh my frigsticks! What's happening here???! This isn't new actually. This is what really happened; no changes. I just decided to post it now.
What do you guys think?! Let me know!
