"Are you ready to sacrifice your life for the safety of humanity?" The instructor yelled at us, while directly standing in front of a boy with reddish-pink hair.

"Yes, sir!" We all yelled.

"Are you ready for the worst days of your life? Are you ready to give up everything in order to save at least one civilian?"

"Yes, sir!"

The instructor's eyes suddenly narrowed on a boy with black hair, his eyes were an icy blue, and he seemed to be muscular under his brown jacket with the training symbol on it, it was a simple design of all the protecting forces put together: the Azarathian Police, the Freedom Fighters, and lastly the Survey Corps.

"Why didn't you respond?" The instructor spat at the boy.

"Because, I do not wish to save only one, I plan to save millions, sir!" The boy said proudly and he placed his right hand -balled up into a fist- over his heart.

The instructor suddenly started to laugh, which put everyone at a unease. It was really strange to hear his laugh, the way his eyes seemed to be filled with hatred with bags under them, his bald head was shining in the sunlight, and he was also missing a few teeth. "You do not get to choose who you save. You have to be willing to save all of humanity, even if it is just one little girl or boy, even if it is the elderly. You don't get to choose who you save! Do you understand?"

The boy's eyes widened slightly, but then he kept his face neutral, "Yes, sir! Sorry for the not understanding at first, sir!"

I smiled softly, admiring how he didn't argue with him, some of the others probably would have, especially that arrogant red head that kept looking back at me, he would raise his eyebrow suggestively, while I tried to look away, but for some reason he seemed familiar.

"What the hell do you think you're looking at? At the girl with purple hair?" The instructor yelled at the red head, making him look forward and blush slightly.

"Uh-uh, no, sir!" He hesitated.

He was an idiot.

The instructor struck him, making the red head fall. Then he looked at me, "You, come here!"

I sighed, and walked up to him. "Yes, sir?" I asked calmly.

"Why was this kid staring at you?" He asked me.

What kind of question is that? "I am not really sure, sir."

His eyes seemed to narrow down on me, "What's your name and where are you from?" He yelled still trying to intimidate me.

"Rachel Roth, from the Higata district."

Behind me, I could hear people start to whisper and some of the girls gasped.

"Higata, eh? Are you alone?"

"Family-wise, yes, sir."

"Are you planning to avenge your mother and father?"

"My father abandoned my mother and I when I was young, but I do plan to at least fight for humanity's survival and my mother's unjust murder, sir."

The instructor looked at me up and down, it made me a bit uncomfortable, but I didn't move a muscle.

"Roth? I know about your record. You always used to pick fights with the APs, right?"

"You are mistaken, sir."

He raised an eyebrow and stood directly in front of me, "Are you telling me I'm wrong, you brat?"

"I apologize, sir. I should say you are misinformed, sir. I did not choose to fight against them, they tried to make me do things without a reason, so I fought back, whenever they hit me." A second later, I added, "Sir."
