Chapter 8: The Deaths of the Squad

Erik, Camilla, Natalie, Mason, and I were all ready to fight. We all stared at the scene in front of us. There were Titans everywhere. And we didn't see a sign of the front guard anywhere. "They were completely overwhelmed..." Mason noted.

Erik looked over to me and grinned, "Hey, don't worry, Rach. Think of it this way. After we kill all these bastards, we'll skyrocket through all the ranks. Be a commander, or even someone like a captain of a elite squad." He swung his arm around my should and with his other arm he waved it over the land, "Pretty soon. We'll be able to go back home."

I smiled a bit and nodded, "Yeah. You're right."

"Ahem! Erik, Rachel. Don't think you two are the only ones getting all the glory. We're going to kill way more than you ever could." Natalie said as she and Camilla walked towards us, showing us their fresh, new blades.

"Count me in on it too." Mason chimed in. He stood next to me, grabbing ahold of my sleeve, but not pulling me away from Erik.

"Well, then. Let's play a game, then." I said smiling mischievously, "Whoever kills more Titans gets bragging right, and whoever gets the least, has to be the bragger's personal slave for two months."

Everyone whooped and instantly agreed, "Oh, you're so on!"

"Uh, guys. I think we're forgetting that Rachel is the top of our class. And Erik is fifth. And Mason is seventh" Camilla said nervously.

Natalie swung her arm around her shy friend, "Oh, come on, Cam! We can totally cream the two of them!"

"Well, then, if it's starting now, I'm going to go get the first kill!" Erik shouted as he ran and activated his 3DM gear and securely flew around the city.

"You idiot! Stay with the group!" I shouted and ran after him. I could hear Mason, Natalie, and Camilla following behind me.

As we jumped from building to building, the wind hit my face with such refreshment and it was the most free I had ever felt in my entire life. And that was saying something considering the walls that surrounded us.

Then a saw something. It was a Titan, it was jumping up, kind of like a cat. "Hold back! We've got an abnormal!" I shouted as we all pulled away the push of the wind. The Titan's face smacked itself into the clock tower.

"Natalie? Hey, where's Natalie?" Camilla asked as she looked around desperately. We all looked around, looking for out lost comrade.

I then looked over to the abnormal. Abnormal Titans were different. They were like Titans, but they didn't seem to attack all humans. Sometimes you can be on one of their shoulders, and they wouldn't eat you. It's like they're hunting for something specific. Then I gasped as I saw the abnormal move it's head as if telling us to look at him.

Natalie was in between his teeth. Everyone behind gasped as well, and Camilla covered her mouth to keep from screaming out. The abnormal tilted his head back and slurped Natalie up like she was nothing but a piece of noodle.

"You're not getting away, you bastard! I'm going to kill you!" Camilla shouted, breaking from her shy exterior and she ran up ahead.

"Camilla! No, don't go out there yourself!" I shouted and then ran after her. We were jumping around, and I could hear Erik and Mason following us, trying to keep up. Camilla may have not been in the top ten, but she was the fastest, besides Will, with the 3DM gear.

"Rachel, watch out!" I heard someone say, but it was too late. 

I felt it's teeth chomp down my leg. I yelled in pain as it ripped off my leg. I fell on the roof, hitting my face multiple times, and I could feel cuts and bruises forming all over my body. Blood was spilling. I could hear Mason and Erik crying out for me. I heard Camilla's scream. I wanted to move. I wanted to help. But I couldn't. I was sprawled up on the edge of the roof, missing a leg and blood was undoubtedly was covering the roof and my entire body. Then I heard another scream. But it wasn't Erik's, no Erik was on the building in front of the one I was on, he was staring at me. Why wasn't he helping? Isn't this what he wanted to do? Kill all the Titans? Why isn't he doing it?
