Chapter 10: Squad Number 109

Luna had a bad feeling. She had the feeling that all hope had just been lost, but she isn't aware of what caused it. I hope Erik and Rachel are okay. Everything with the elite squads is going okay. So far only three titans have made it thus far.

"Hey, you okay?" Carter, an elite soldier who was about thirty-one years old asked her. He sat next to Luna, swinging his legs over the edge of the roof as well.

"Yeah, I'm just worried." She answered honestly.

"Oh, yeah. Two of your childhood friends are in the middle region, right?" He took out a flask and took a quick swig of vodka.

"Yeah. Erik and Rachel. I'm worried for them."

"Erik Sato and Rachel Roth. Sato? I've heard that name somewhere."

"His father was a a doctor. The best at that. He was often called to the Capital for appointments specially made."

Carter snapped his fingers, "That's it! I knew it!" He laughed, thinking he was a genius for remembering. "Now, Roth. Wow, she's a whole different level, right? She's a hundred soldiers to herself, just like Captain... Whoa, Captain Roth and Rachel Roth have the same last name. Think they're related?"

"Uh, who's Captain Roth?"

"'Who's Captain Roth', did you just ask that? Captain Roth is the leader of the FF regiment. And he, whoo, he's humanity's strongest."

"What's his first name?" Luna asked, suddenly interested in learning more of this 'Captain Roth'.

"Captain Shay Roth."

"Sir! I just got news from the cadets, they are doing well, only two squads have been completely wiped out, and in one squad's case, all but one has died." a female solider told our captain.

"Give me the squad's names." he ordered.

"Squad's 112 and 129 have been completely wiped out-"

Ten people, Sky, Tripp, Sydney, Zula, Holly, Max, Nancy, Adrien, Aurbree, and Jack. They're all dead...

"-And all but one  from squad 109 are dead, sir."

"109?" Luna shouted, "Tha-That's my squad! What are you saying?" Luna shot from her seat and looks at the messenger.

"Oh, uh, I'm so sorry." She said, bowing her head in sympathy.

"Who's the one that survived? Tell me!" Luna shouted, tears streaming down her face.

"I-I'm sorry, I didn't catch the name."

Luna looked down, she couldn't believe it. Rachel couldn't save everyone. She couldn't save Erik. She-she must be so broken right now. She activated her 3DM gear and then started going towards the middle guard. Rachel, I'm so sorry you had to see the squad die. I'm so sorry. 

"Hey, where are you going?" Carter shouted.

"I'm going to go help. You all seem to be doing just fine." Luna shouted back and with that she hurried over.

Erik, I thought you were ready. I should've fought harder to stay, that way, at least I could've helped. Mason, Camilla, Natalie. Your deaths will not be forgotten either. Together with everyone else, we will crush these Titans. Just like you wanted, Erik...

Luna wasn't aware of how much she has gone, all she knew was that she could hear some panicked voices. Sounds of vomiting. She knew she had arrived.

"Luna? Aren't you supposed to be in the rear guard with the elites." Nikki asked her as she landed on the roof they were on.

"Where's my squad? What's left of it, I mean. Where's Rachel?" She asked, dismissing her question.
