Chapter 16: On Cloud Nine

Cerise/Cherry's POV

The morning sun was directing its rays right into my room, through the thin curtains and lighted up my room. I just stared out through the curtains and watched as some birds flew by. I thought about the past few weeks and wondered what I should do now.

As I thought about these stuff, I didn't realize that the time had flew by until I heard a knock on my door.

"Who is it?" I asked the person behind the door.

"It's me-dasuyan!" I heard Buffalo say. "Waka wondered why you didn't appear during the breakfast."

Did I miss breakfast? Why didn't he come here and see for himself? Why did he send Buffalo to check me up? I thought and forgot that Buffalo was waiting for my reply.

"Cherry?" He called out after a while.

"Oh, sorry! Just tell him that I don't feel well." I told him.

"So you will miss your training as well, then?" He asked.

I nodded but then remembered that he couldn't see me. "Yes." I said and then heard his footsteps fading.

Then I returned to my previous thoughts and slowly my eyes closed and I fell back asleep.

Doflamingo's POV

I was currently sitting in the throneroom with the executives and discussing some business when suddenly there was a knock on the door.

"Come in!" I called out and the doors opened and showed Buffalo.

"Waka, I came here to inform you about Cherry." He said and I suddenly stood up from my seat in interest and urged him to continue. "She said that she wasn't feeling well." He said, which immediately made me frown. What was wrong with her?

I turned my head to the executives and saw Pica give me a knowing look. "I'll be back shortly." I said and left them. I stormed all the way to her bedroom.

Pica's POV

"Ne ne, what's wrong with Doffy? He's acting weird when it comes to Cherry." Trebol asked and kept staring at the door, where Doffy left.

"I don't know..." Diamante muttered and wondered.

If only you knew... I thought.

Doflamingo's POV

I stood still facing Cherry's door. I don't know why but I was hesitating to open it. Was I feeling guilty for what I did? But Buffalo said that she wasn't feeling well, so I have to see her.

I grabbed the handle and barged in, forgetting to knock. "Cherry, are you-!" I said but stopped mid sentence. She was sleeping. I walked over to her and sat down slowly on the side of her bed. Some of her soft, pretty hair had gotten in front of her face and I brushed away some bangs. Then my fingers traveled down from her hair to her smooth cheek and all the way to her jaw, before dropping them on the bed. "I think Pica was right. I really do like you." I admitted, quietly and kept watching her.

After a while later her eyes slowly fluttered open and she stretched like a new awokened cat. It was really cute and put a smile on my face. She even let out a cute moan. Then her attention turned to me. "Hmm, Doflamingo?" She said, confused and rubbed her eyes, trying to get away from her sleepiness. "What are you doing here?" She asked in a quiet voice.

I just couldn't help but smile at her. She was just so adoreable! "Buffalo told me you weren't feeling well, so I came to check up on you. But then I saw that you were sleeping peacefully and didn't want to wake you." I explained as she sat up in her bed, with the sheets covering her half body.

"I'm fine, don't worry. How long have you been here, by the way?" She asked and tilted her head to the side. She was just making it harder for me. I just wanted to grab her and hug her. She just kept becoming cuter by each second.

"I don't know." I answered honestly and watched her with a smile. I probably looked really stupid the way I was watching her.

"Doflamingo... are you okay?" She asked, unsure with a concerned expression, and reached her hand out to mine. She grabbed it and slightly rubbed it.

Okay, that was it! I pulled her towards me and picked her up in my arms, before rushing out from her room to her balcony and then into the air.

"Doflaming! What are you doing?!" She asked, panicked and grabbed my shirt tightly.

I made strings attach the clouds as I just climbed higher and higher into the air, until we were above the clouds.

Cherry looked around and then turned her attention back to me. "Why did we come up here?" She asked, confused.

I just shrugged my shoulders. "It's been a while since we were up here." I said and then a silence grew between us. I kept replaying different scenarios in my mind on what to do next. Then I removed my glasses and put them on my head.

I stared into Cherry's pink orbs with my brown eyes and she did the same. I slowly started to lean down and she leaned more towards me.

"Doflamingo..." She said my name quietly as our faces came closer and closer to each other. I smiled and we both closed our eyes. Our noses touched and I rubbed mine against hers and then our lips slightly touched, but I didn't seal it then. I pulled back a few centimeters and kissed her upper lip. I pulled back again and kissed her lower lip this time and then took it into my mouth and bit it. I licked it then pulled back again, before completely sealing my lips with hers.

I pulled her closer to myself as she wrapped her arms around my neck. We didn't make out, but our lips stayed like that against each others. I didn't want her first kiss to be heated or anything and I wanted to show her that I really care about her by giving her a gentle kiss.

After a moment later I pulled back and stared into her pink orbs. She tried to look away and hide her smile, but it didn't work. Her smile brought a bigger smile to my face. I cupped one of her cheeks in my hand and made her look up at me. "Cerise, I want you to know that I really care about you. You bring real, meaningful smiles to my face. Now I-I don't know how deep my feelings for you are, 'cuz I've never felt like this before. But I think they are really deep." I confessed and saw her eyes brighten up. "I-I really want you to give me a chance. Could you give it to me?" I asked her with a hopeful smile.

She looked down and seemed in deep thought. I didn't really want to rush her, but I can't wait either. Then she looked up and smiled. "Yes!" She said, happily. The corners of my mouth went up immediately. I pulled her closer to me and hugged her.

"I-I... I think I love you!" I said into her neck and felt her arms tighten around me. I knew that she wouldn't respond to what I said, because she wasn't probably feeling the same way and I didn't rush her to tell me.
