The buzzing alarm disrupted my two hour sleep; six a.m. I pushed my sunken body out off the chair, dropping all the soggy paper cups, the bitter taste of unsweetened coffee still lingered in my mouth. The grey suit was now stained brown, I dropped it into the pile of clothes by the armchair and picked out a tie, lime green.

The rusty metal door took a few rather forceful nudges to swing open. I switched my view from one end of the corridor which disappeared into pitch darkness, to the other end of the corridor which also disappeared into pitch darkness; we had to conserve energy. I made my way to the single buzzing light, my shoes echoing off the peeling grey walls.

Her door was open so I walked in without knocking, "Good morning Amrita, how are the subjects doing?"

Professor Amrita was too busy typing in numbers and making calculations in-front of the green glowing screen that took up the whole wall, "They're growing less stable." she finally replied.
