Chapter 5

I pulled in the driveway and ran into the house with Jenkins close behind. I pretty much threw myself into the door, probably breaking it as i did.

Nyx was laying on the couch, and she jumped when I came in. "Devin?! What the hell?!" She asked.

"Where's Lyall?" I asked.

"Sleeping in my bed. What's going on?" She asked. I ignored her and ran upstairs where I opened Nyx's door.

Lyall stood in the middle of the room completely naked.

I shouldn't say that. She was pulling her underwear on.

"If you wanted to see me naked you could have just asked." She smirked.

I instantly covered my eyes. "I am so sorry! There was this killer, and I was worried!" I admitted.

Nyx stepped in the doorway behind me where she laughed devilishly. "Were you sleeping naked in my bed?"

"I usually don't sleep with clothes on." Lyall answered almost seductively.

"That is so fucking hot." Nyx went to step forward when Jenkins laughed from down the hall.

"Don't get carried away ladies, there's still an old man in the house!" Jenkins teased.

Nyx leaned back so he could see the man who waved with a smirk. "Benny I presume?" She asked.

"Yup! That's me!" He stepped forward and offered his hand to her, making sure to keep his body just outside of the doorway so he couldn't see anything inside. "You must be Nyx."

"That I am." Nyx smiled.

"Are you related to a Nox?" He asked.

Nyx fake laughed. "I've never heard that one before."

Jenkins patted her on the shoulder. "Good on ya then!"

"There's some food downstairs. Come on Benny, come tell me your war stories!" Nyx dragged the old man downstairs as Lyall walked up to me still missing a few articles of clothing

She was wearing her pants and underwear, but only a bra covered her upper body. She put her hands on either side of my head as she trapped me against the wall.

"What's wrong Devin?" She whispered. "My eyes are up here."

"But those round things are bigger."

Really Devin?! That's the thing that comes out of your mouth?!

"They are, yeah." She smiled. "You can touch them if you want."

"Kaythanksbye." I pushed Lyall back -probably taking her up on her offer before I descended down the stairs, my face beet red.

Nyx smiled at me, a spoon full of Cool Whip in her mouth. "It's a Full Moon tonight." She smiled.

"Excuse you?" I questioned. Even Jenkins looked at her curiously.

"People usually go crazy on a full moon. That and the actual crazies come out." She fake howled then laughed. "Lyall just gets weird sometimes. Like me."

"You've never asked me to grab your boobs before."

"I didn't think you wanted to." Nyx answered. "I thought you were my best friend. Do you want me to flirt non stop?"

I shrugged which got her to smile. "If you want to touch them you can."

"My uncle is right fucking here!" I shouted.

"He can touch them too."

"For fuck sake Nyx!"

She and my Jenkins burst out laughing like they were both participating in the same joke.

I rolled my eyes at the sight before a smile touched my lips. Lyall came down the stairs, fully clothed thankfully.

She sighed and grabbed her backpack from beside the couch. "I gotta head out." She told us. "My mom called, someone tried to break into the family farm."

"You live on a farm?" I asked.

"My aunt and uncle have always lived here, and they run the farm on the edge of town. I live with them and my parents who came with me from London. But usually people try and break in to spend the night in the barn." She shrugged. "I'll see you on Monday."

"Sure thing."

"And thanks for helping me with my homework." She pulled her backpack over her shoulder and headed out.

"My pleasure!" I called as she closed the door.

"I should probably head out myself." Jenkins said. "Is there anything I can get you sweet heart?" He asked as he patted me on the head.

I laughed. "Nothing I can think of Benny." I answered.

"Then I'll see you around." He laughed and headed out. I heard his jeep rev off into town.

I sighed and slumped into the couch.

Nyx sat down next to me. "Are you alright?" She questioned.

"I'm fine... just... stress I guess."

"You came in looking like you expected something horrific. Did something happen when you were out with Benny?" Nyx asked.

I sighed. "We drove past a police line, and there were a lot of dead bodies. And something told me maybe you were in trouble." I told her.

She moved so she was sitting on my lap, her head against my shoulder as she leaned against me. "You were worried about me?"

"Of course I was worried... You're my best friend." I told her.

"You don't have to." She told me. "I can take care of myself you know?" She wrapped her arms around my waist.

"Can you? You're always asleep, and you'd miss school without me to wake you. You don't cook your own meals because I'm always taking care of you, and don't even get me-"

She tilted my head to the side and kissed me, which effectively got me to shut up.

"Maids aren't supposed to complain you know."

"Did you just?"

"Uh... yah. What the hell did you think it was?"

"You have feelings for me?"

"You're my best friend. I can kiss you to shut you up." She answered.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah I'm sure. I'm a professional cock blocker. And since you were looking at Lyall like a lost puppy, I'm going to taunt and tease you until I think you've been punished enough. And I won't take no for an answer."  Nyx warned.

"Looking at Lyall? What the hell-I wasn't looking at her! She came on to me! I was hiding my face in my hands!" I told her.

"Likely story." She scoffed before getting up. "I'm going to go to bed." She stretched happily. "You can join me if you want, but I'm going to be naked!" With that she headed up the stairs.

"I'll pass you crazy bitch!" I yelled after her.

I waited about an hour before I headed up myself, and opened her door a smidge to see inside where I found her sound asleep, but I couldn't tell if she was naked because she was thankfully under the covers.

I closed the door and went to my room where I changed into my pj's before sliding into bed where a deep sigh escaped my lips. Today had been stressful.
