Chapter 6The house was nothing more than a cabin with a porch and a thatched roof. Lucy had already arrived and was sitting on a white wooden swing.
"I was starting to wonder if the faeries had kidnapped you; they can be pretty nasty to newcomers, especially men." Lucy half smiled shyly.
"What do you mean?" Bellamy stopped walking and looked behind him, as if the faeries were lying in wait to do something horrible.
"I mean that unless you want your hair shaved or nails painted hot pink, I would avoid them." Lucy knocked on the door of the cabin.
"One moment." Came a muffled, but familiar, voice.
"You've been strangely quiet since we first met." Lucy glanced at Bellamy who was shifting uncomfortably from foot to foot.
"This is just so strange; I never knew things like this existed." Bellamy tried to avoid eye contact but couldn't. Lucy had a certain glow about her, something that made it difficult to resist not to look at her.
"You mean humans and us working together and getting along." Lucy answered, it wasn't a question.
"Wait, what do you mean ''us''?" Bellamy asked.
"I'm a Mythic, too." Lucy smiled. "A mermaid to be specific."
"Oh,you just don't look like one." Bellamy took a step back, his face a mask of skepticism and sudden distrust. Now that she said something, Bellamy noticed a few things about Lucy, and Kora too, that had seemed strange but his brain just hadn't caught on; her height for one.
Even Bellamy knew that Mythics were taller than humans, Bellamy himself being 6'3 and still growing. Another thing was her features; the features of Mythics were extremely pronounced and perfect, Bellamy had even heard many people describe him as "otherworldly" and "a child of the gods".
Lucy opened her mouth to respond when the door of the cabin opened and out stepped the same man whom Bellamy had seen at the prison. Morgin.
Lucy stood up immediately.
"Lucy, I'm very glad you're feeling better, but you still shouldn't be up and about." Morgin said sternly, completely ignoring Bellamy even though he towered over Morgin and Lucy.
"I know, but someone told me that Kora had arrived with Bellamy and I wanted to see for myself." Lucy turned around to look at Bellamy, who was still staring at her in wonder.
"And now you have, so off you go." Morgin gave Lucy a push and didn't say a word until she was out of sight.
"You must be Morgin." Bellamy asked, for some reason he did not like being here alone with this man without Lucy or Kora.
"Yes, I am Morgin, and you are Bellamy Ward." For a human, Bellamy could see he clearly wasn't a Mythic, Morgin spoke with authority and while he seemed relaxed his steely gray eyes demanded respect. This was a man who was used to having his orders obeyed.
"I assume that this must be very strange to you." Morgin watched Bellamy closely, not quite sure how he would react.
"Yes, it is." Bellamy's gaze was hard and angry, his voice a thunderstorm of fury. "What is your kind doing here? Why are humans and Mythics working together?"
"I figured you would react this way, but Bellamy even you should see that that not all humans fear Mythics." Morgin put his hand up in a calming motion.
"Who were my parents?" Bellamy asked hesitantly.
"Come, I need to show you something." Morgin began walking back towards the group of houses Bellamy passed on the way in, neither saying a word until they reached a small collection of trees surrounding a church.
