Chapter 14Could it be? Another dragon. Kora thought as she stood in the wake of Bellamy's mad dash. Yet doubt crawled out from the furthest reaches of her mind. No, it's not true. That dragon was exterminated and his identity died with him.
And yet the rage that had taken root in Kora's heart never dwindled; that rage, born from grief, became hate. And like wildfire that hate spread until it consumed her soul and Kora could think of nothing else. Then the shame of rescuing a dragon from the punishment all of his kind deserves had been crippling. But always did the thought of killing a dragon linger, and the longing did not die.
Kora thought on these things as she half stumbled, half walked, out of Bellamy's house. If there is another dragon...... Well, I'll have the privilege of killing both of them, and that stupid mermaid.
But even Kora knew that was a fools errand. The mermaid was a Seer and as a result would see her coming. Kora would have to wait until the right moment to strike. And yet, for a single moment, Kora felt something in her heart towards Bellamy. Was it pity? Curiosity at finally meeting a Mythic that was as rare as a kindness? It frustrated Kora to no end that she felt this way.
She thought back on the creature that had found her in the woods. My master has been watching you closely.
Kora shivered, and not because of the cold; she didn't like the idea of someone spying on her. But she still wondered what it meant and who it's master was.
Forget about it. The thing was probably lost and besides you have more important things to worry about right now. Kora shook her head and sauntered towards Morgin's house with her hands clasping the panther amulet.
