Getting away

I just want to get away. Away from the noise of this house. It's winter so outside isn't an option so I'll have to settle for the garage. It's not as frigid in there but it's still chilling so I bring a small space heater.

I find an old lawn chair and set it up next to the only plug I can find. As the ancient off white heater warms up I look around. This place is so dirty. The concrete floor needs sweeping and the corners have bad at least twenty past hosts. I guess it's okay because no one ever comes out here this time of year.

Finally the heater is warmed up. So much that my shins are almost burning. I move them aside so that the rest of my body can feel the tiny sun. After I move my foot I see a quarter sized beetle. It's exoskeleton is dark but where the light hits it the blue and purple metallic undertones are revealed. I've never seen this kind of insect in person before but I know it's not native to this area. It must have been searching for an escape from the winter and found its way in my garage and I have real heat so it came close.
Out of the corner of my eye I catch something bright red dart across the dusty floor. Before I can distinguish what it was another beetle inches closer to the heat.

The dark one by my foot somehow climbed up onto my shoe, almost to my ankle. As soon as I reach down to brush it off I feel it's thin legs on the skin of my lower shin. Sharp stinging pain runs up my leg and throughout my whole body. After it subsides I'm left paralyzed.

I slump out of my chair and land on the ice cold concrete floor. I try without prevail to pick my limb body off the ground. More and more beetles scurry around my limited realm of vision but none of the touch me. They are all like the first, dark with a bit of color.
The sedative is starting to calm my mind. I know this poison will kill me but it also makes me feel at peace.

The bright red one steps in front of my eyes, as if it knows I can see it. It acts, in a miniature way, like it is the leader of the cloud of insects surrounding me. It crawls closer to my open mouth and I fear the worst. I feel it's minute foot touches my lip and all hell breaks loose.

All at once they swarm over my body. By now I feel completely calm but normally I would be gagging and flailing to high heavens. The tingling of all of them in my clothing and on my skin soothes my thoughts into nothing and I just listen to the tiny clicks of their scrambling legs hitting one another.

The flow into my throat chokes me but I can't do anything about it. They all want to be inside me and they got their wish.

I'm outside of my body. They killed me for my body. I can feel myself fading out of this world. The last thing I see is my body get up and walk inside my house without me.
