"He said there's no precedent for this. You'll be back by next semester" my beautiful wife whispered as we sat in the girls small playroom off their bedroom, I was fixing some of their toys. She was talking about my suspension, I had gotten best up pretty bad, and the school couldn't excuse it, I was surprised I wasn't fired. We needed the money, and it wasn't that principal Joe Zito didn't understand, it was the fact that it simply didn't look good and I couldn't be doing it.

"Look, Tess." I started, sighing and looking into the beautiful eyes of my wife, I couldn't believe I ended up marrying her. "They have these smoker fights all over. There's one in Lancaster next week, there's two in Dover the week after, Wilmington, Camden, Baltimore. It could keep us afloat" she sighed frowning a little bit, I hated when she made that face, it made my heart hurt.

"You're gonna out yourself through this over and over for five hundred bucks a pop?" She asked, putting her hands on her lovely hips as she looked down at me.

"Some of the pay a little more than that" I paused, her hard gaze didn't change "I would have had to bounce for a month to make what I made in two hours last night" I reasoned, holding my hands out. She looked at me concerned, I knew that she just didn't want me to get hurt, especially after what happened last time, never again. "And these guys, they're not real fighters. They're just guys who have seen too much UFC on tv... If you got a better solution, I'm all ears." Tess crossed her arms, quietly thinking to herself. We didn't have a lot of options, and she was smart enough to know that.

"What are we going to tell the girls?" She whispers, nodding her head towards the sleeping girls outside the play room, the two most precious things in my life. I thought for a moment.

"It'll be fine, I'll just leave the house as usual, except I'll be going to the gym" we stared at each other for a moment, we knew that this was our only option right now. Tess sighed, nodding and she kissed me gently, looking into my eyes after. I got up and turned off the light, heading out into the hallway.

"Come to bed soon, ok?" She smiled, kissing me again and heading into our bedroom. I walked downstairs I wondered where Jade was. I walked into the kitchen and poured myself a glass of water sighing again, I knew Tess was probably worried sick but there wasn't an option. I planned to go see a Frank first thing tomorrow, train myself up and do as many smoker fights as I could to get the money we needed to get by.

The front door swung open and in stormed Jade angrily, she threw her bag on the floor and marched towards the stairs. "Hey! Young lady get your ass back here!" I said crossing my arms, Jade groaned and marched back to the kitchen, glaring at me with angry eyes. I noticed she came in alone, Naomi wasn't with her and she only had the one car.

"What's going on, what's gotten into you?" She crossed her arms.

"Nothing Brendan" she spat angrily, looking away from my eyes.

"Jade?" I pressed but she said nothing. "Where's Naomi?" I changed the subject. Jade shifted on her feet and looking at the floor, but her guilty look was quickly shrouded by anger.

"She's I'm Pittsburgh" she muttered, turning away from me. Why the fuck would Jade leave Naomi in Pittsburgh?

"Jade what the fuck? That's two hours away!" I exclaimed, running my hands on my face. "Did you guys get into a fight?" I knew Naomi, she could adapt easily, she would've found somewhere to stay by now.

"Yeah" she growled "I'm going for a shower then I'm going out again" she began walking away, I called after her, she still hasn't explained what happened, but Jade didn't care, she kept walking until she was out of earshot.

"Jesus" I sighed, drinking the rest of my water. I wondered what could've happened that made her so angry, and what she could've possibly fought with Naomi about. I knew Naomi would be safe though, and that Jade would come to her senses and go pick her up when she was ready. I made my way upstairs and into my room. I looked down at my gorgeous sleeping wife and smiled, she was my everything, and I would do whatever it took to keep her and my daughters happy and stable, everything I do is for them. I crawled in next to her and she turned to me, mumbling in her sleep as she wrapped her arms around me. I was stressed, but having Tess in my arms made it all better even if it was just for that moment.
