Chapter Eight - Revealing The Feeling

"Okay guys, I want you to do questions five to eight on page five hundred and sixty-seven for next week." Mr Burns, a man in his fifties where grey hair completely engulfed the once brown hair, wrapped up our Maths lesson just as the bell for the end of the day went off.

Hannah and I both have Maths together and so decided as soon as the lesson’s over we’d head towards the nurses office, assuming Ashley was still there as the nurse didn’t give us any news during the course of the rest of the day.

We gathered our books as we walked out of the room very swiftly before anyone else. Once we were out of the class we picked up the pace, however a male’s voice stopped us on our tracks,

"Taz! Taz! Tanzanite, wait up!" The voice belonged to Jack and when we turned around; we saw that he was jogging up to us.

"What’s up?" I asked, planting a smile on my face. Hannah also smiled at him but at the same time she was gripping my arm a little tighter, eager to get to Ashley.

"Are you coming to training?" he replied, leaning against one of the lockers in the corridor with his arms crossed.  He was referring to my athletics training which is held every Thursdays after school alongside the football practice, which Jack attends; after all he is the captain of the football team. The athletes taking their position on the racing track while the footballers occupy the centre of the training cage.

I shook my head, "no, just tell Mrs Flanders that I’m going to the nurses’ office, please."

"Oh, that’s a shame. Is it ‘cause of Ashley?" Concern flashed his face and every minute spent standing around, the more Hannah dug her nails into my skin.

"I really got to go Jack, you will tell Mrs for me right?" Hannah began to pull me a little, her legs unable to keep her on the spot any longer.

"Oh, yeah sure. Is Jay going to athletics?"

"I guess so, he hasn’t told us anything. Now come on Taz!" Hannah answered for me and yanked me very hard, before I knew it we were on the move, quickly making our way to the office.

We knocked before we walked into the office. The nurse was sitting behind her desk, typing away at the speed of light. For a moment, just a moment, I was mesmerised by this and gazed at her typing in awe. I shifted y eyes to her face and a reassuring smile appeared on her face, her face slightly glowing.

"How are you guys feeling?" She asked, standing up ad walking towards us.

"Wow! You type very fast," I said instead of answering the nurses’ question.

"Ashley’s not well and all you can think about is her typing skills. Taz!" Hannah raised her voice, glancing at the door of the room that Ashley was resting in.

"Actually Ashley’s fine; he’s a little sore but he’s awake and sitting up," the nurse informed us. Hannah let out a sigh of relief.

"So can we go and see him, please?" I asked, already heading towards the room.

"Sure."

When we walked into the little room Ashley was sitting up, just as the nurse said, stretching his arm one way then another. The colour of his face returned and he was no longer pale. A weak smile spread across his face when he turned to see us. Hannah immediately wrapped her arms around him and squeezed him tight. Ashley moaned very loudly.

"Hannah, it hurts!" Ashley groaned.  Hannah then released him from her grip. I moved towards him this time, giving him a gentler hug.

"DON’T EVER DO THAT AGAIN!  YOU SCARED THE LIFE OUT OF ME!" I shouted at him just as I let him go to sit on the middle chair of the three available. Hannah sat besides Ashley on the bed.
