It was early Sunday morning and dad was in town shopping for next weeks dinner. I laid in bed for a while waiting for my eyes to wake up properly. When I was felling a little more awake I got up and shoved my riding gear on. Not bothering to get in the shower I ran down stairs and slipped into my riding boots. I picked up an apple on the way and slipped out of the door. I walk across the beach towards the stables.

When I reached the stable doors Crescent kicked the ground with his hooves. This meant he was pleased to see me. I led him out behind me with the rope I had hung around his neck. I didn't put rains or a saddle on him, sometimes I preferred to ride without. I just hopped up onto his back and headed for the beach. We strolled down the shoreline. The waves crashed up against Crescents hooves and legs. He didn't seem to mind the water. I hopped of into the shallow water and some splashed me on the leg. It was a good job I had my jeans on. I started to walks along the beach and I could fell my toes become cold and wet as the water had seeped through them. I forgot that my boots weren't water proof.

A tingling sensation came over me, it was kinda like pins and needles the felling when you have been sat in the same position for to long. Though it was more painful than normal. My legs where being pulled closer together and it felt like I was in a vacuum. They where touching now and I was surround by a tornado of water. Then it just dropped and I fell to the floor along with it. I fell flat on my face right into to the water. I pushed my self up with my hands and turned my head. I gasped at what I saw. Then my shock changed and I was confused and frightened then I became a little excited. I had a tail, like a fish tail. I was a mermaid. I stared for a while at my tail. It shimmered under the rising sun. It was all different shades of blues. It was amazing. I had a bikini top made out of shells the same colour and the straps where made of a pale pink silk. Around my neck there was a necklace in the shape of a moon and made out of a similar shell to my bikini. I smiled at how pretty it was. Then I realised that I had Crescent with me and my dad would be back soon. I pulled my self out of the water. I had to wait half and hour before I was dry and my legs returned. Thankfully I was fully clothed again. I looked down and I was still wearing the necklace, it must not disappear like my bikini top.

I raced over the sand on Crescents back towards the stables. I cleaned his stable, fed him and watered him as fast as I could. I rushed into the house where dad was putting the shopping away. "Oh hey I thought you would still be in bed".

"I was awake before you dad".

"You looked flustered are you okay?"

"I'm okay I have been out on Crescent it's just a little chilly out there near the sea". He looked out of the window. "It's nineteen degrees honey are you sure your okay?" I rolled my eyes. "I'm fine dad I promise". I raced up the stairs and shut my bed room door behind me. I switched on my laptop and begin to research real life mermaids. There wasn't much just a load of junk. All the different sights said different things. I grabbed my diary and rote down the things that where the most mentioned. These where things like, grow tail on contact with water, strong connection to the moon and sea, eats crustations and needs to keep a healthy amount of salt in the body. I rote what seemed to be the most important and real information down around a drawing of my tail and my necklace. Then I searched up sea shells and came across one the looked very much like my bikini. It had a number of differ names the animal was and Abalone and was within the same family as clams other names include Paua and Ormer. It was said to have healing properties and was said to be able to help control emotion, it took on the colours of the ocean and could be found in the forms of shells and pearls. Pearls like my necklace. I scribbled down as much information as I could locked my dairy and shoved it in my draw.
