(The entire story is in Kyle's POV)
It happened on a Saturday. The sun had just started to dip behind the grassy mountains, creating a pink and purple illusion in the sky above. My little twelve year old brother, Ike, sitting in the third row seat. My boyfriend, Stan Marsh and I, Kyle Broflovski sitting in the second row in the middle of the "Broflovski Family Vehicle". My Father sitting in the driver's seat and my Mother in the passenger seat next to him.
I was sitting next to a baby's car seat, which was my newborn baby brother River's. River's car seat at the moment sat empty, nobody occupying the vacant seat. About a year ago, my parents decided they wanted another child, when I was born and when we adopted Ike my Father was working so much he never got to raise me or my brother or experience having a baby. And so they decided to have another baby, and two months ago River was born.
Tonight, some of my good friends, Stan and I were all going to go see the Of Mice and Men concert, which was in Denver tonight. My parents offered to drive Stan and I because my baby brother River's babysitter was in the city as well, they needed to go pick him up.
Stan squeezed my hand, and I lightly smiled. I was a little annoyed, all I could hear right now was the loud beeping from Ike's game boy. I grinded my teeth and clenched my un held hand. I was trying to make me not reach back and rip off his head.
"Wahoo! Next level!" I heard him cry from the back seat.
I cleared my throat and tried not to sound angry said "Ike, you've been playing that thing for the past thirty minutes, can you stop please?" I begged, trying a to keep a calm tone, if he knew that it annoyed me so much he'd turn up the volume. He loved to torture me. Yep, it's so much fun having a brother who is four years younger than you (I'm sixteen)
Ike cackled from the third row devilishly "Nope!" he snorted.
I groaned and using two fingers and swiped the ringlets of fiery red hair dangling out in front of my eyes, trying to hide the fire in my eyes.
"Let me try" Stan whispered in my ear. He leaned his head back and looked down at Ike, who had his eyes glued to the screen, I wonder how he doesn't get car sick.
"Hey Ike, do you mind turning the volume down, just a little bit. I want to try and get in a quick nap before the concert" he winked at him.
Ike worshiped Stan like he was God. He hands bolted up to the volume button "Oh yeah, sorry Stan!" he gulped and quietly continued his game, without any disturbance.
Stan faced the front once again, he winked at me and I mouthed to him thank-you. He nodded with a tiny smirk.
I couldn't help but stare at Stan for a few seconds. Long black hair, falling in his eyes and stopped the middle of the back of his neck, always falling in his eyes. Dark blue eyes, so deep and dark, it looked like you were looking into the eye of a consuming great storm, they were the kind of eyes that were cold but in the very same way beautiful.
He was tall and wore bulky sweatshirts, that he looked so cute in, he always rolled up his sleeves to his elbows. He had very prominent features. His fit body, long legs, a cute little nose sat in the center of his face, perfect for his facial features.
I on the other hand was none of these things. I was plain, my eyes were a green and my hair was flaming red, which I also had held underneath my hood, but I always kept it neatly brushed, even if nobody saw it.
I was lost in his features, the only thing that brought me back to reality was the sound, ringing in my ears. Loud, my Mother's scream.
My head bolted toward the front of the car and I shielded my eyes from the blinding headlights of another car, that was coming straight at the head of the car. I heard my Father cry out, Ike's game boy crashing to the ground, his high pitched scream.
The sound, the terrible, horrible sound, it was coming from all sides, that crunching and crushing of metal. The smell of burning rubber. Then everything was in slow motion. I kept my eyes closed and we flew, high, high into the sky, we were upside down.
My mother's scream, the sounds of tires, the metallic crushing sound, Stan's hand tightly squeezing mine. Then the darkness consumed me.
