It was silence. Nobody spoke. Butters leaned forward and pressed an outstretched thumb against the button to floor number four, making the button light up. The only sound was the whirring of the elevator switching gears and shifting gravity, going up instead of down like it had a moment ago.

When the elevator stopped I followed them out of the elevator to another waiting room. This hospital was like a maze. Funny, how the ICU gets it's own waiting room. Rows and rows of plastic blue chairs lined the ground and walls. At the end of the room was a set of vending machines. One was a coffee machine and another was a snack machine. Up here there was also a person sitting at a messy desk with rows, stacks of papers around them.

Butters approached the desk first, rubbing his knuckles together and talking in a soft voice. "Um, we are here to see Kyle Broflovski, Stan Marsh and Ike Broflovski" he nervously quivered, clearing his throat and putting his hands on top of the counter.

The nurse eyed her for a second with a questioning look before changing her glance to her computer screen. She punched in a few commands into her keyboard and then turned towards us.

"Kyle Broflovski is in room three, his brother is in room eight, Stan Marsh is in surgery at the moment" she explained.

"W-why is he in surgery?" Kenny asked, stepping forward and clearing his throat, trying to hide the pain in his voice.

The nurse sighed again and turned towards her computer and read the glowing screen for a minute and turned back towards us. "That is confidential information sir" she said, raising an eyebrow. "but if you take a seat the Doctor Sampson will be with you as soon as possible" she pointed towards the waiting room full of people, the mostly empty chairs.

Cartman stamped his foot and Kenny clenched his jaw, setting it in a tight position. Together they both headed towards the chairs, both upset and defiant.

I followed once again, Eric, Butters and Kenny took a seat in the middle of the row closest to the vending machines. I took an empty seat across from them and tuned into their conversation.

Why you do think that it's confidential information? They don't want to tell you that your boyfriend is dead?  the low cackled. You have nothing left to live for.

Don't listen to him dearie, think of your brother Ike, he needs you. If you give up he'll have nobody left. He'll have to care for a Baby brother all by himself, the softer voice caught my attention, trying to drone out the lower evil voice. Think of River.

          Who are you?

I'm the one who needs you to give up.

I'm the one who needs you to keep fighting.

I sighed and turned out the voice in my head.
