I followed the sound from the crying baby back down the hallway and into my hospital room, the room I had never thought I was visit again.
An old woman, her back turned to me, was leaning over my comatose sleeping body and holding a screaming baby in one of her arms. I walked a little bit closer to the woman, until I was at the head of my bed and looked at the woman.
Then I remembered. Fiona. She was River's babysitter. River. I felt the air being depleted out my lungs and I took a step forward.
River quieted down after a couple of minutes and stayed quiet with his eyes closed. He was small, a little baby. Light blonde hair covered the top of his little head, that was almost bald. He was wrapped in a blue blanket.
"Kyle" she covered her mouth and walked a little nearer towards my hospital bed "Everyone's gone, but you still have one more person in this world Kyle" Fiona wiped her fading blue eyes, her gray hair was in a messy bun.
"Who's going to be there to tell him stories of his brother, his mother his father?" she asked, I was taken aback and bite my lip, not knowing what to say. "He will never know his family, and he is now an orphan" she said. "You can't give up"
I covered my eyes and fell to the ground. I wanted to give up, nobody in the world was left for me no family, no nothing. But there was hope, there was River. I felt a tears stain my cheeks and I hugged my chest, sobbing.
Then the picture of River, my mom and my dad, Ike and I. The wonderful day in the park. One of the happiest days of my life. It was just my family, on my sixteen birthday, we spent the day in the park, next to the lake, River had just been born. Dad played his guitar, we played a mini game of baseball. I remember spilling soda all over myself, and the way we just laughed, my Mother's laugh ringing in my ears, and River's tiny giggle, the first time he laughed pounding like a stereo in my brain.
I opened my teary eyes and said "I want to stay"
A bright light surrounded my vision and I was lying down on my back. A thick blanket covering my body, the blinding lights above surrounding my vision. My vision was blurry and my sight blurred to the side. The only sound I hear was the echoing of River. His tiny giggle echoing around the room, I moved my hand and an elderly person towered over me.
"Kyle?"
