Chapter 14

Jace's POV

After we told Maryse that Clary and I were getting married she hurried around the institute making phone calls. Apparently she was planning to throw us an engagement party. When Clary and I saw how much effort Maryse was putting into this party, we decided we should do something to thank her. The only thing that was difficult about this was we had no idea what Maryse likes. So we went to the only people who we could think of that would have the slightest idea what she would like. We went to Izzy and Alec.

"Hey guys we have a question for you" I said.

"Okay shoot" Izzy said nonchalantly.

"Well we want to give your mom something to thank her for all the work she has put into the party. The only problem is we have no idea what she likes" Clary stated.

"Oh well flowers, chocolate, knives you know the ordinary things" Izzy said as if those were an appropriate kind of gift.

"Those are small gifts we want to give her something big that shows her how much we really do appreciate what she is doing for us" I said.

"Well then I guess you are going to have to ask either dad or Clary's mom. They are the only people who have known her long enough to know what you want to know" Alec chimed in.

And with that we walked away. We could go see Mr. Lightwood but no one had talked to him since he and Maryse split. And well Clary and her mom still haven't made up after what her mom said to her. Clary still hasn't even told her that we are getting married.

"So Clary what do you want to do?" I asked.

"I guess we are going to go and see my mom, uh" Clary said while staring at the floor.

"We don't have to if you don't want to" I said while lifting up her chin.

"No we have to, anyways I kind of have to tell her that I'm getting married" Clary said trying to force a smile onto her face.

"Okay if this is what you really want then I guess we are going to visit your mom" I said while taking Clary's hand in mine.

"You do know it's like 12 in the morning right we can't go right now" Clary said with a confused look.

I didn't answer her I just pulled her up the stairs and into our bedroom. Once we entered the bedroom Clary closed the door behind her and locked it. I knew exactly what was on her mind because it was the same thing that was on mine. Clary started to walk towards me pushing me down onto the bed. Once I was laying down I pulled her on top of me so that she was straddling me. Then we started kissing but when I say kissing is mean kissing. It started to get a little intense, we started taking each other's clothes off. Then of all the people to come barging in at a time like this Holly stood in our doorway staring at us.

"Holly what do you need, if you can't see we are kind of busy" I said while motioning at Clary.

"While I didn't volunteer to come up here. Maryse told me to come and get you she wants to talk to the both of you" Holly stated.

"Okay then we will be down in a minute" I said.

Once we were re-dressed, we went to find Maryse. When we walked into the library we found a banner saying goodbye Holly. Meaning Maryse hadn't only been planning our engagement party but a fair well party for Holly. I'm guessing that Holly hadn't known that she was getting us down stairs to apparently celebrate her leaving.

"Okay so I told Holly that I needed to discus some family matters with you.
I told her to come back in half an hour so hide and we will give Holly her proper goodbye that she deserves. You know seen as how Jace and her are so close" Maryse said looking as happy as ever.

Once Holly came back we all jumped out saying surprise. We ate some cake and talked until well everyone decided that the party was done. We all left but Maryse tried to keep me behind to talk with Holly seen as how we are childhood best friends.

"Sorry Maryse but I promised Clary that we would go and tell her mom and Luke today about the engagement" I said trying to sound apologetic.

"Oh nonsense I'm sure a few minutes isn't going to kill Clary" Maryse stated.

After what felt like an eternity of silence between Holly and I. She left meaning that I was free to take Clary to her parents to tell them about the engagement.
