A loud scream wakes me from my beauty sleep-except for the beauty part.
Why aren't movies honest about waking up looking like a Troll Chimpanzee bitten by a Zombie Vampire that has Flu? Because i absolutely look like that right now, and probably everyone else looks like that in the morning.
But that scream was more of a My mom said she'll buy me a sheet of paper at Walmart, but instead she came home and bought me a phone. And that scream came from no other than my bestfriend (although i cannot remember how we became bestfriends) Lilly.
"What's the matter, Alligator?" I sass, curious about her.
"I told you! New Year Wishes would come true!" She pinches my left cheek and dances like a maniac.
"So, i'm guessing that your boyfriend is moving here at Salt Lake?" My question turns out more like a statement.
"No shit, Sherlock!" She deadpans.
We are interrupted by a vibrating noise from my phone.
I see the caller ID, its mum.
"Hello, mum?" I pick up my phone to answer mum's call.
"How was your New Year?" She greets. "Well mum, i've been fine, the year's been fine. Everything is in its place, as organized as your jewelry box." I grin, i miss them! The last time i visited Pittsburg was last summer.
"Okay. I want you to have fun and study hard, alright?" She pauses. "Bye, Harper. Mum loves you!" Then she makes fake kissing noises.
"I love you too, mum." Then she hang up.
"Lilly," I call out. "Hmm?" She answers.
She's currently eating a sandwich at our mini table inside our room.
"Just a random question." I sigh, "Will you think that my wish would also come true? just like how yours did." I ask.
"Hmmm..." She dramatically thinks. "Yes, someday. That's for sure." She says, trying to boost up my joy.
"But Harper, don't assume that he still feels the same way. I mean, as your bestfriend, its my duty to keep you from hurting. Assuming is gonna hurt. If ever you meet him again, do it right. Do things right the next time. Apologise to him. Its been a year anyway." She starts,
"Do the right thing." I repeat what she said. "Thanks for summing it up." She sticks her tongue out in mockery.
"No problem." I sarcastically ride on.
I walk to our corkboard and pin a polaroid picture of us holding the wine bottle where we placed our wishes. It looked pretty cool, with wide grins plastered on our faces.
"Uh, Harp, you got plans for tomorrow?" I smile at her for calling me harp. Its actually my favorite instrument, even though i haven't played one before but i have been to lots of orchestra concerts.
"None." I answer in a pointless way. "Great! You'll finally meet my boyfriend tomorrow." She squeals. Gosh, what happened to her? She squeals a lot.
She stops and looks at me with hope glinted on her eyes. "Is it settled?"
"Yes." I breath out. "I can't wait to threaten the guy," i smirk and raise my eyebrow playfully.
"Please don't scare him away!" She huffs. I raise my arms instantaneously. "Kidding, kidding." I answer.
I can sense relief in her expression and i wanna laugh at her for taking it too seriously.
Well actually, i really can't wait to meet the guy and do the 'bestfriend talk' to him. To bound his limitations and for him to know what he is up against in case he breaks the fragile heart of my beloved Lilly.
