Change of plans.
My dad then decided for us to play games like we used to before i went to study at Miltreeve.
We used to go out to the park every weekend just to have a family picnic. We'd fly kite at windy days and just play frisbees or boomerangs when the wind isn't really full on blowing. There are a few times when we would all ride a bicycle and just drive the whole afternoon. Those times were tiring but fun. I kind of miss those times.
As we got home, i immediately went to my room to change since i'm actually wearing a blouse right now. I changed into a simple graphic shirt and wore my sweater.
I then searched for something that we could play with; my boomerang. I walked towards the small cabinet on the corner. I opened it to find no boomerang. I checked the other drawers but it really was nowhere to find. I slowly stood up and lifted the my bed sheet to be greeted with a whole lot of boxes.
I pulled them all out I checked them all, even the Jakey's Stuff box just in case i forgot i let him borrow it before.
Same result: No boomerang.
And at that moment, Liv enters my room with a frisbee in hand. "I got a frisbee!" She announces.
"Liv have you seen my boomerang?" I ask while continuing the search for it. I could've sworn i saw it in here before. I sigh, the stuff that disappears only when you're looking for it.
"Uhm... Nope. Why don't you just ask mum?" She suggests. "We had a garage sale a few months back, maybe she didn't know you still liked that boomerang." She shrugs.
"What? No!" I storm out of my room, walking towards my parent's room.
I opened the door without warning, i could tell they were shocked of my little burst through the door.
"Mum did you sell my boomerang for garage sale?"
"Uhm... I don't actually remember. Is it not in your room?" She asks.
I nod unpatiently.
"If it isn't in your room or any rooms in this house for that matter then yes, i sold it. Why?"
"What? But mum!" I run my hands through my platinum hair in utter frustration.
"I thought you don't use that boomerang anymore?" She explains, her green eyes looking directly through mine. Her eyebrows scrunches together, clearly uninterested.
"I've always told you not to go into my stuff."
"Don't use that tone on me Harper." She sighs.
"Why would you sell my stuff without permission?" I press on to the subject.
My mum ignored my question as she walk across the room, farther away from me and grabbed her phone. Her eyes remain glued to it for a while, still ignoring my question.
"Don't ignore me, mum." I raise my eyebrows, getting a little more pissed on how she's acting.
I groan, "Whatever." Rolling my eyes as i walk out the door to put my Uggs on and making sure to make a loud noise as i slammed the door shut.
I honestly have no idea where i am going but i just kept on walking, hoping that my feet would be able to take me to a place where my boomerang is. Well, i wish.
It seems pretty ironic, i thought boomerangs would always come back?

Later that day i found myself seated on the sidewalk, some place near the hot chocolate shop where i was a few minutes ago.
I am still somehow contemplating on why i stormed off earlier. I shouldn't have talked to my mum like that, even to Liv.
I guess the boomerang is just really important to me, that i panicked the moment i realised it was gone.
My thoughts were interrupted when a familiar voice calls out my name.
"Hey,"
I mean, not really my name. But i bet this dude is talking to me, right?
"Harper?"
There goes my name...
I turn around to see him. Alec.
"Uh? Alec? Why are you here?" I swear, confusion is plastered on my face right now.
What is he doing here in Caiwood? I don't remember him mentioning anything about going here anyway, or maybe he just really didn't mention anything.
But there he was, in his dark denim, graphic shirt and a blue plaid coat that matched his raven hair. He looked great, if i were to be honest. Not that he looked awful before but... He looks extra great now. Maybe it's his hair which is styled differently, or maybe it's his pose with his hands stuffed inside the coat's pockets. Maybe simply because of this moment.
He clears his throat before bending down to take a seat beside me, on the filthy sidewalk.
I felt my cheeks heat up, he must've noticed me checking him out.
"Uhm... Family stuff?" He scrunches his nose and scratches the back of his neck, also bewildered in his answer.
"Oh." Was all i could say, giving him a tight smile.
"And... My mum's...uh... job, i guess?*
He chuckles and asks "You?"
"Family stuff." I state teasing him.
He smiles knowingly. "Oh right, you live here. I forgot." He nods in understanding. He shifts his eyes to the ground smiing as he take in the sight.
I chuckle.
"What?" He looks at me, eyebrows scrunches together.
"Why are you smiling like that?" I ask.
"Snow." He replies.
"What's with snow?"
"It's quite beautiful, you know?" He pauses before continuing. "It's cold, it makes you feel numb, like a sweet escape."
"Sweet escape? What do you mean?"
He shooks his head dismissing my question.
And we just sat there in silence after that. It wasn't that awkward silence though, it was just plain silence.
No one bothered to utter a word, its quite amusing.
The thing with Alec, he can just be there with all his presence, even when he's not doing or saying anything you'll feel really comfortable. He's got that charm in him.
After a few more seconds, he stood up and i look at him, he was wiping his pants as if there was loads of dirt on them.
I shook my head as i let out a scoff.
"What?" He furrows his brows.
"Your pants aren't filthy, mister. Don't dust them off like that." I roll my eyes.
He frowns. "Oh, okay." He presses his lips into a thin line. He's way too serious for my liking right now.
"I was teasing you." I point out, looking down.
I notice his black, ripped-style boots.
"Cool shoes." I smile at him and he return it..
"Thanks, uh, they aren't mine actually. Just borrowed them. Uh yeah." He sighs. "Well, i have to go now. Nice sitting on the sidewalk with you." He doesn't wait for my reply, turning his back at me and walks away.
"Nice sitting on the sidewalk with you, too."
