I'm like the worst person in the world, haven't updated in a long while! This is the LAST chapter. However, the epilogue is still missing.
Hope you enjoy!

"You know..." He finally spoke.
We had been sitting on the same spot for at least ten minutes, a comfy bed in one of the backrooms of the Royal Exchange, but this was the first time any of us had dared to pronounce a word. Saying that we were nervous was an understatement. We were freaking out, that's for sure. "I've been thinking loads lately."
I couldn't help but laugh at this. He was stating this as if it was something out of the ordinary or something that was simply too strange to conceive.
"No, no, no." He laughed softly. "I mean, I've been thinking about us, even more, these last few days."
I nodded; I didn't know where he was going with this.
"Remember when we were in the LA gala?" He asked, to which I looked at him and, once again, nodded. "Well, I remember sometime through the night Liam told me that we were the 'Lucky Ones'."
There was a pause. He looked at me, as if expecting me to respond.
"We were, I guess?" I muttered softly. "Weren't we?"
"Yeah, no, but-" He sighed. "That's not what Liam meant with it." He cleared his throat.
"Liam thought that us, One Direction." He explained. "Were lucky for being famous and successful."
I stared at him; he had a worried look on his face.
"But you see, Astrid, that's not it." He finally got to the point.
"In the LA Gala, I was the lucky one." He repeated. "I was the lucky one, but not for being in One Direction and being successful and famous." He accentuated those two words.
"I was lucky because I was happy, because I was with you."
Those words hit me like knives. I had been happy, yeah, but I guess that it was a different time, a past time. We wouldn't be able to get back to it, regardless of how much we wanted to.
"Say something, please." His eyes were pleading, just as if he had told me his biggest secret and he wanted to see my reaction.
"I-I" My voice was shaking. It wasn't that I was nervous to speak up to Zayn; but I was scared to say the final words.
I was scared that whatever we had, came to a definite end.
"I understand you." I finally articulated those three words. "I have been thinking loads about us lately, too."
His reaction was priceless. Wide open eyes and bright white smile.
"I have been thinking about how happy we were, of all the times we shared." I admitted, suddenly remembering our time in Los Angeles.
We had been happy, that was for sure. When I was with Zayn, nothing had mattered: only him and me.
"After our split, I felt lost." I explained. "I felt alone, as if I would never be able to recompose myself."
Zayn tried to speak, but I looked at him and he understood that he should let me finish first.
"I saw our story, everything about it, as simply flawless. I guess that I never thought that something could go wrong and just wreck it all up. I thought that we were stronger than that, Zayn." I spoke.
