"Maddi?" Drew asked, sleepily.
"Hi." I said sheepishly. I probably looked like a thief, all dressed in black if it wasn't for the fact that I was knocking on Drew's window.
"Come in." He moved aside so I could go in.
"Thanks." I smiled slightly. I didn't really feel like talking right now.
I looked at his digital clock on the bedside table. It showed 1.36 am. Wow I was out late. I had left around 7.
I dumped my bag near his desk and flopped down on his bed.
"Drew, can I ask you a favour?" I said quietly.
"Sure anything." He replied, sitting down beside me.
"Can I stay here till my mom leaves again?" I asked.
"Are you sure?" He asked.
"Yes. I tried to talk to her with an open mind, and we hadn't even got to the cheating part before I snapped. She is a force to be reckoned with. All I know is she came for the weekend before there is this Christmas charity fashion show in Milan next week so she's leaving on Monday for that." I sighed.
"Anything you want Maddi." He said. I leant over and hugged him tightly. I blinked the years away. I couldn't allow myself to show this emotion. I told myself I would be strong.
Fighting had relieved most of the anger I had built up and I was glad. Not many people had the opportunity to vent their anger like that.
"I'm sorry." I said suddenly.
"What? Why are you sorry? You have nothing to be sorry about." He said confused.
"I disturbed your sleep." I said.
"No I wasn't sleeping. I couldn't sleep." He told me honestly. "Are you sleepy?"
I shook my head. "You know if my mom didn't come in when she did we could have camped out the entire night in my playroom." I stated.
"Yeah..."
"We haven't been camping as a family in a long time. I miss that. But sometimes I think about if we were to go now. It wouldn't be the same I don't think. We always go to those hilly areas we pass before getting to the village. It was so peaceful. Away from the bust lifestyles my parents lived. Away from the noise of the city. It was the good life." I reminisced. I sighed and leant my head on Drew's shoulder.
"Everything will get better." Drew said.
"Really?" I asked, unsure of what the future held for me.
"Maybe. You don't know what could happen." He said soothingly. "How about you change into something more comfortable?" I smiled at him and got up to get my pyjamas.
I grabbed them and walked into his joining bathroom. I closed the toilet lid and sat on it with my head in my hands. I exhaled deeply and got up. I stood at the basin and looked into the mirror. I didn't even realise my eyes were red from trying to cry. I quickly washed my face with cold water and stripped out of my clothes and wore my pyjamas.
I stepped out of the bathroom and Drew was sitting in the same place as before.
"Cute pyjamas." He winked. I blushed as I realise I was wearing the long sleeved, baby blue flanneled one with cute teddy bears on them.
"Yeah, uh... I didn't even know I was staying over here when I left." I said quietly, smiling. I folded my clothes and place them in my bag. I turned around and Drew was getting into bed. I walked over to the otherwise and got in too.
