Justin's POV
"Almost home! Almost home!" Me and the guys were yelling, bouncing around in the car. Poor Mom was driving, though, so we tried to keep the jumping around to a minimum. We hadn't (well, I hadn't) been home in about three years, so I was wondering who and what had changed. I was actually looking forward to seeing my best friend, AJ. I had promised to keep in touch, but I was really bad at it.
Ryan, Chaz, and Christian always said they knew something about AJ that I didn't, but I never believe them. I knew AJ inside out, from the evil twin sister, to the sleeping with a stuffed rabbit named Alexandra, to the major fear of public bathrooms. He's my best friend, there's nothing I don't know about him...
Mom pulled into the constantly vacated driveway. My dog practically flew away the second I opened the car door, straight to the arch connecting my yard to AJ's. "Toffee!" I heard AJ yell, then a splash, yelling, and a second splash.
"Justin, go get you're dog!" Mom shouted, spurring me into action. The guys followed me into AJ's yard, frantically chasing the white and tan puffball I call my dog.
"Ty, stay where you are! Sophie, he doesn't know you, just swim him over here," AJ said, crouching by the side of the pool, trying to direct the fully clothed girl trying to rescue my dog. The other guy, Ty, was standing really close behind him, being still and quiet. Another girl sat on the edge, feet in the water trying to coax Toffee closer. "Skylar, can you get towels please?" AJ asked her. She nodded, stood, and raced inside for them.
Toffee couldn't swim because of all of his fur, but he was trying to get to AJ. Apparently he decided the fastest way to get there was through the pool. Sophie finally got him to the side, where AJ was waiting with a towel from Skylar. Toffee, soaking wet, and looking like a drowned rat, licked AJ's face, making him laugh.
"So much for the element of suprise, huh?" I asked dryly as he handed me my dripping wet dog. He punched my shoulder. Skylar gave another towel to Sophie, who came out of the pool with jeans and a tshirt.
"That's an interesting bathing suit you have on, there," Chaz commented. She rolled her eyes.
"Oh, yeah, it's all the rage in 'Rescue the Drowning Dog' City," she replied with a laugh.
"Nice comeback," Chaz replied, a smile lighting his face. He was definitely completely whipped.
"Anyway, thanks, man, for keeping in touch. I even had to go out and get new friends!" AJ joked. "Justin, meet Sophie St. John, Skylar Bradson, and Ty Bradson," AJ introduced. Two border collies bounded up to him, panting like crazy. THe bigger one gave a short, precise bark. "Ah, man, Lexxi's back," he groaned. "Jayden, go hide in the barn. Jordan, go watch for Lexxi." The two dogs ran off in different directions. AJ put an arm around the shivering Sophie. "Cmon, let's get you warmed up inside. Anyone up for hot chocolate?" Everyone headed inside, but I held AJ back.
"New girlfriend?" I asked, smirking. HIs blue eyes looked brightly at me from under his hood, as if we were sharing an inside joke that I wasn't aware of.
"Nope, just friends. I do have someone that I like, though, and they aren't getting the message," he told me. I smiled at him, tossing an arm carelessly over his shoulder.
"Not for long. I'm Justin Bieber, and you're my best friend. I can help you."
