Chapter 17: Fire vs. Ice

Heyy. Midnight here. I really should be doin college work now so, if this chapter takes a while, that is what I would be busy doin. But that is borin so here it is!

3rd person P.O.V

Rose and Natsu are fighting in the barely empty guild hall. First it was about Natsu not claiming his mate (again), then it was about her leaving him all those years ago (the few members who were in the guild just treated the pair as white noise at this point, except the Strauss siblings who were observing the Slayers) and now its about fire and ice. Petty I know.
"You're a Fire Dragon Slayer, Roseanne! How can you think ice is better!?"
"Easy!" Rose uses her ice make magic and creates a glittering flower garden in the guild hall with one flower in her hair.
Murmurs can be heard around the guild like "its so pretty" and "shes no Gray but she is impressive". Even Lisanna complemented the young mage before Natsu sent her a glare and she apologised before pointing out she knew Roseanne from a young age as well.
Rose grins smugly, knowing she won this round, and rests her hand on the nearest ice sculpture (which happens to be an ice tree).
Natsu puts his palm out and gathers a massive fireball in his hand, releasing it towards Rose and part of her flower garden. Her smug smile doesn't fade as the guild watches the flames engulf her and the ice.
"Ice make: sword!" Can be heard from inside the flames and Rose cuts through the flames, dispersing them (like Kirito does in Sword Art Online in that episode with Lisbeth with the dragon, episode 7 I think). Natsus flames circle around the blade, the flame in the center of the ice attracting them.
The guild watch in shock, even Natsus impressed by his sister's ice.
"How?"
"Since my Slayer magic is my main magic, my ice make magic draws in my body heat making my ice as hot as my fire... and yours. It also means I can lower my body heat to that of an Ice Dragon Slayers which is colder than that of a typical ice mage."
Lisanna touches the nearest ice flower and immediately pulls her hand back, the heat burning her hand. Sylvia wraps her tail around the burn, causing Lisanna to cry out in pain, and the tip of her tail glows. The pain Lisanna feels in her hand slowly dies down before disappearing completely. Sylvia removes her tail from Lisannas hand.
"Idiot, Lis! Only those with the capability to touch flames can touch my ice!"
"Mama?" Faron says. Rose turns around.
"Yes, Faron?"
"Papa wants you home. Oh and here," Faron takes off a necklace he had on and takes a ring off it which has a ruby on it and the band embedded with obsidion. He gives it to Rose who puts it on her ring finger.
"Your... married!" Natsu exclaims.
"Engaged." Rose replies before the ice disappears and she leaves followed by Faron and Sylvia.
"She refused to get married until you came back, Natsu," Wakaba explains.
"Come on, Natsu. Lets go home." Happy yawns before falling asleep on Natsus head.

The next morning, Lucy entered the guild with Kino on her head and Plue in her arms. Lucy sniffs the air.
"Smoke, rusted iron and clouds... Rose, Gajeel and Wendy. Natsu probably hasn't come in yet." She mutters the last part sadly. "Hey, Rose!" She calls out, waving to the fire mage.
"Lucy!" Rose waves back and walks over with Sylvia flying to Kino.
"Sylvia-nee, Rose-san!" Kino exclaims, happily. "Lucy-san is taking good care of me and Plue keeps me company!" Rose pets the golden Exceed.
"Thats good. Go with Sylvia for a moment I need to talk to Lucy."
Kino nods and flies off with Sylvia to a table inhabiting Lily, Gajeel and Levy. Levy pets Sylvia and Kino and starts talking to them while sitting on the Iron Dragon Slayers lap. Rose pulls Lucy out of the guild hall.

"I know who your mate is," Rose says once they exit the guild.
"Who?" Lucy asks, genuinely confused. She was told about Dragon Slayers mating but doesn't think shes found him yet.
"A certain fire mage I grew up with."
"Natsu!?" Lucy exclaims, shocked.
Rose smirks and Lucy sniffs the air. The overwhelming scent of charcoal filling her nose.
"I'm guessing all you can smell is him." Rose stated rather than asked. Lucy nods.
"Hes close." She mutters.
At that point, Natsu walks up to the two girls.
"Hey, Luce, Rose."
"Hey, Natsu." Rose and Lucy reply in unison.
Happy drags Natsu past Lucy and Rose and into the guild, muttering something about talking to Sylvia.
Roses smirk slowly turns into a frown and her eyes widen. "When the white princess finds her prince... I can't stop it..." Rose mutters.
"What?"
Nothing!" Rose says.
"Ok. I like him but I don't think he likes me," Lucy mumbles, blushing slightly.
Rose smirks again. "Seduce him!" She crosses her arms over her chest. "You have the right equipment." Lucy immediately covers her breasts with her arms.
"I-it won't work! H-he doesn't notice stuff like that! H-hes s-so dense I d-doubt he knows what love is!" Lucy stutters.
Rose sighs. "Fine but if you don't claim your mate soon, you will have a power overload and go into a coma."
"Noted." Lucy replied, walking into the guild.
